“Why?” I barely get the word out, trying hard not to sound angry, but she feels it anyway.
She looks away, a red flush creeping up her skin. “I just thought that if I do it with you, then it’s ours. Not theirs. I want to take it back.”
“I don’t know how I feel about that, Gi.” I feel trapped. I want to help her, to make her happy, to do whatever she feels she needs to heal.
But I don’t want to do that.
She scowls at me and shrugs out of my arms. “Forget it.”
“Gi—”
But she’s already stepping out of the shower, grabbing a towel, dripping water across the tile as she storms out.
By the time I shut off the water and wrap a towel around my waist, I hear her voice echoing from the living room.
“What the FUCK are you still doing here? Why the FUCK are you ALWAYS here?”
I step into the hall. Gi is standing in front of Una, eyes blazing. Una’s holding a garment bag and staring Gi down with a condescending smirk on her face.
“Una,” I say her name low, my eyes on Gi.
Una turns my way as Gi stares at her angrily. “Yes?”
“Do you need something?”
She lifts the garment bag. “Your suit for tomorrow. I brought it for you.” She turns back to Gi, her smirk firmly in place. “Like I always do.”
Gi bares her teeth. “Like you always do? Do you live here now?”
I pause a beat longer than I mean to, watching Gi, confused. Why is she so mad? It’s just a suit. “Gi, it’s not a big deal—”
She ignores me, snapping at Una, “You think you can just show up inmyhouse whenever you want—”
“It’s Tommy’s house,” Una says, smiling.
Gi takes a step forward, and for a second I think she’s going to hit her.
“Una, thank you,” I cut in. “You can go.”
Una keeps her eyes on Gi. “If you need anything, you know where to find me.”
The second the door closes behind Una, Gi storms past me toward the bedroom. I catch her arm.
“Hey, what is happening right now?”
She shakes me off, rolling her eyes with a snarl. “Oh right, because you wouldn’t lose your fucking mind if some guy was up my ass the way Una is up yours 24/7.”
“Gi, she’s an employee. She brings coffee and manages my schedule. She helped me hold things down while I was looking for you. I promise you, there’s no confusion there.”
“Yeah, right.” She drops her towel, yanking a comb through her hair while she yells at me in the mirror’s reflection.
I try to focus on what’s she’s saying, try not to follow the water dripping down her curvy body. I really do.
“Right. She’s just around all the time, inourhome, bringing you suits and coffee and whatever else she thinks will make her indispensable. Totally normal.” She shakes her comb at me. “If some man had been with me for years while we were apart, did all the little things for me that you used to do, and he was always fucking hovering at the edges of every conversation you had with me, in our house at night—anytime, honestly, but at night, Tommy?—you would not be okay with it.”
My mouth goes dry watching her tits bounce as she talks. Her ass and belly are starting to fill back out to what they were before, and I can’t stop thinking of the orchid I gave her on her inner thigh and how much I’d like to lick it right now.
“Hello? Are you even listening to me?” She turns and puts her hands on her hips, scowling at me angrily.
