And yet, it was everything she’d ever wanted.

Maybe she’d had to suffer through hell to get the life she’d always desired.

But it seems it might just have been worth it.

“Hello, can I help you?” a young girl asked from where she sat behind the front desk at Ravina’s office.

“Hi, I’d like to see Ravina, please.”

“Have you got an appointment?” The girl didn’t bother to even glance up from where she was filing her nails.

“We don’t,” Kellan said, then he whipped out his ID and put it right in her face. “We want to speak to her. Now.”

The girl froze, then glanced up at Kellan. Her eyes widened. “She . . . she’s back in her office. There.”

She pointed down the hallway.

Great.

Kellan strode off and she followed with Eli behind her.

“Kellan, you can’t use your ID like that,” she said.

“Why not?”

“Because you’re not here in an official capacity,” she explained.

He shrugged as though he didn’t care and she guessed he didn’t. Unfortunately, Ravina wasn’t in her office.

“Think that girl at the front desk lied to us?” she asked.

“Don’t know.” Eli looked around and they walked out of the office.

“We should go back out,” Kellan said. “Maybe we can wait and she’ll turn up.”

They walked back out. The girl at the front desk had disappeared and Arabella sighed in disappointment as they headed to their car.

Her gaze moved around and she caught sight of Ravina getting out of a car. She narrowed her gaze in on the driver as Ravina slammed the door shut, saying something through the open window. She appeared upset.

Then the driver drove away and she froze as she got a good look at him.

“What is it?” Kellan demanded.

“Lee. Ravina was talking to Lee. She just got out of his car.”

Ravina stormed across the street, not even seeing them as she entered her office building.

“How would she know Lee?” she asked, confused.

“Let’s go ask her, shall we?” Eli said.

Once more she followed Kellan into Ravina’s office. There was still no one at the front desk. That poor girl was probably recovering from her encounter with Kellan.

They walked into her office and Ravina glanced up from her phone with a frown.

“You!” Ravina said.
