Iawoke a short time after to Quentin rubbing my butt as I turned toward him so that I could lie on his chest. Shareese was on the other side of him, tucked underneath his biceps, eyes closed, breathing rhythmically; she looked peaceful. He extended his arm and brought me into the fold. I slid over closer and allowed him to hold me as well. He kissed my forehead. Neither of us spoke. Instead, I just lay there, eyes closed. His naked body against mine, while we lay quietly in an effort not to disturb her.

This moment felt very surreal. I was lying in bed with Quentin and his ex, and somehow, I didn’t have any of the feelings that I thought I would. I didn’t feel uncomfortable around her, and I didn’t let it affect how he and I interacted. I felt a little… arousal. Maybe a lot of arousal.

I closed my eyes tighter at the realization. I could feel my breathing hitch as I tried to calm myself. Who knew that discovering what I like would come with such a weird sense of guilt or shame? But I was battling it internally. Like, I should notbe that turned on at the visual of someone slurping my juices off their ex’s dick. It’s crazy. But here I am.

Shareese stirred and did a light grunt as she stretched out. It jarred me from my thoughts as I opened my eyes. She gave me a light smile and slid out of bed before she groggily walked out the door toward the front of the villa.

She came back with the same bowl of fruit that we had been eating earlier and stood with her brows furrowed.

“I like fruit just as much as the next person, but I need some food. This?” She held up the half-eaten bowl, “It's not going to cut it.”

I giggled.

“I got you, Sha. You ready to get up and go out, B? What time is the last activity that you planned?”

“In about an hour and a half, but I also planned a final dinner too,” I admitted.

“Okay, let’s go grab something quick,” Q suggested as I sat up and he slid out of the bed for us to all start getting dressed.

“Shareese, put on something breathable. We’re going to the beach, and the activity also involves water,” I said, making sure she was dressed appropriately.

She nodded and then went back into her bag and grabbed a bikini and a cover-up.Once we were all dressed and covered in sunscreen, we walked down the path to the Beach Hut.

We ordered conch fritters, fish tacos, jerk chicken, and a lobster roll. Then we sat at the table and waited for them to let us know when it was ready.

“Is it a good time to tell you that I can’t swim, Breeze?” Shareese asked as soon as we were seated. Silence fell over us before we erupted in laughter.

“Damn, I forgot about that,” Q admitted.

“Do you have a fear of being in the ocean? Because we’re not swimming, we’re kayaking. You’ll have a vest on.” I assured her.

“I’m okay being in the water, as long as I don’t have to get in.”

The food came out a short time later while we ate, laughed, and talked about whatever random topics arose.

“Are y’all ready to go? Our time slot starts in five minutes,” I said, wiping my hands with the napkin and getting up to put my things in the garbage.

“Yeah,” they answered at the same time.

I stood and cleared the table, taking their plates to the trash.

We walked over to the place to sign the waivers and pick up the kayak, paddles, and life vests.

I put on the life vest, while Q helped Shareese secure hers. I laughed because it looked like she did not want his help at all, and he just didn't care and kept securing it. He had never mentioned it; he didn’t have to, but I know she was tough on him. When she said that they coparented without blurring the lines, watching them interact outside of sex, I wholeheartedly believed her. I could tell that she was feisty and kept him on his toes. When he finished hers, he turned to me and pulled the buckles of my vest, making sure they were secured, and then kissed my forehead.

Then he carried the kayak to the water and handed us the paddles.

“Breeze, next time let me be in charge of the activities, I don’t know what you got us doing,” Shareese protested, making me laugh.

“Sha, I’m just going along with it,” Quentin agreed as I laughed harder.

“This is fun,” I said once I composed myself.

At first, the kayaking experience was fine. We were mellow, enjoying the sea's calm. But the further we got; Shareese started to panic.

“Let’s turn around, we’re almost out there with the boats,” she said. I could hear the anxiousness in her voice.

“There’s a marker out over there that we can’t go past,” I yelled up to her in an effort to ease her mind.
