“Gloria has been teaching me,” Mike said, happy as a clam. One of his most refreshing qualities was that he was never embarrassed, even about un-alphaly things like dancing.
Tex envied him a little. He would have been embarrassed to say he was going dancing. It was fucked up, but he knew himself well enough to know that it was true.
He wondered if Peter would ever want to go dancing?
“Well, I hope she’s a good teacher,” Tex joked, making Mike throw a French fry at his face. He caught it with his mouth and chewed obnoxiously, grinning wide.
He was relieved. If Gloria was taking Mike out in public, then maybe she actually liked him.
“Are you bringing Peter and the boss to the picnic next month?” Mike asked, shoving the last of his chicken sandwich into his mouth.
“Probably,” Tex said with a shrug. He liked the idea of showing off his omega, but not until he’d claimed him properly.
It made his inner alpha cringe whenever he thought of Peter walking around in public without a real claiming bite. He might smell like he took daily baths in come, but he didn’t smellmated.
It was a problem that would be rectified very, very soon, and definitively in time for the precinct picnic.
“Well, I want to meet him,” Mike declared. “And I want to see Carver with an omega. Does he do that brooding, serious thing with him, too? I’m trying to imagine him with an omega, and all I can picture is him towering over the poor thing with that stern look he does.”
“Carver isn’t that bad,” Tex objected. “He smiles.”
Mike shot him a flat look. “I’ve known him for four years, and I’ve never seen him smile. One time I thought I did, but it turned out he was just snarling at me for taking the last beer in the fridge.”
Tex rolled his eyes. “He’s serious, but he’s fun. You just don’t know him.”
“Fair enough.” Mike downed the last of his drink and got up. He picked up his helmet and put it on, fastening the chin strap and grabbing his gloves. “I’ve got to go. I’m doing an escort for the mayor today. I’ll see you later.”
“See you,” Tex said, waving his drink at him. He still had ten minutes left on his break, and he wasn’t moving until they were over.
Even though he wished that he could have gone home and let Peter practice his cock-sucking skills, he had to admit that it was nice to catch up with Mike. He didn’t have many friends, and Mike was a good one.
Still, he looked forward to the end of his shift, and it wasn’t like this honeymoon period with Peter would last forever. Daily lunchtime blow jobs were great for now, but Tex wasn’t so delusional that he thought this would be a forever kind of thing.
But for right now, it was great.

Peter
“Apardon from the governor, my my my, what a special joy that must have been for you, Mr. Wilson-Wilde. I imagine you were quite relieved!”
Peter smiled, tight and strained, and nodded at the admissions administrator. “I was, yes. I was very lucky that the governor was willing to consider the circumstances of my case.”
“Which were?” the admissions officer, Mrs. Okerberg, inquired, looking at him over the rim of her glasses.
“I was tricked into putting my name on several bank accounts that were used for money laundering,” Peter said, hanging his head. “I trusted someone I shouldn’t have, and since my name was the only one on the accounts, the court found me guilty.”
Mrs. Okerberg nodded sagely. “Yes, it’s all too easy to abuse the trust of an omega.” She pursed her lips and shook her head like she was feeling sorry for all the pathetic omegas out there in the world. Then she put his application down and smiled, patronizing and making him want to punch her wrinkled face. “But you have two strapping alphas now, I see! How wonderful that must be!”
“Yes, a werewolf couple. I’m very lucky.”
“And you met them through the matching program?” she asked, already knowing the answer and sounding very approving.
Peter nodded. “I did.”
“Excellent judgment on your part,” she said, taking off her reading glasses and letting them dangle from the chain around her neck. “The matching program is truly excellent.”
“It certainly worked for me,” Peter said. “Carver is a lawyer for a prestigious firm, and his partner Tex is a police officer.”
