You have been here for me through every step
of this mad leap into the unknown.
You’ve been here with a supportive ear
and a wise word or two of advice from the start.
You always know what to say to make me feel better,
and you always, always make me laugh.
I told you once before that I was very sad
for the version of myself that I had been,
PinksPosies&Pearls:because she wasn’t very happy.
And it took me a long time to realize how unhappy she was.
You were part of that. You didn’t know it at the time,
but I don’t think I ever would have realized how unhappy I was,
if I hadn’t had someone in my life
who made me feel so completely opposite of that.
I’m sure you thought you were simply giving me advice on plants,
but what you were really doing
was encouraging me to care for and nurture myself.
You know, alongside my philodendrons.
