He opens a door, which is the same beige color as the walls. I don’t know anything about running a secret fight club, but what does this guy need an office for? The air is fresh. I scan the room. There’s a big window with a nook. I could easily spend hours there. The bench and the desk across from the nook are a matching light brown. This must have been the office of a baseball coach or the athletic director or a manager. Behind the desk, the entire wall is covered in shelves with books and trophies.

I raise my eyebrows. “Wooden bench and pillows?”

“My friend likes comfort. He lets me come in here when I want to escape.”

“It’s a nice study room.” I point to the oak desk. “I like it. Thanks for sharing your hideout place with me.”

Victor smiles. “Maybe you can come here when you want to escape and hide.”

My heart melts for him. He’s told me about his mom and about his hideout place. Victor moves behind me and wraps his arms around my waist as he presses his body to mine.

Shivers run down my spine.

It’s one thing to be in the house alone with Victor, always thinking about whether Alek will walk in, but it’s totally different to be here, knowing no one is coming. He has complete control here.

He places his chin on top of my head. Then he kisses my hair. His chest presses further into my back as he inhales deeply. He lets out a heavy breath. I turn to face him and put my cheek on his hard chest.

“I’m ready to escape now,” I say, more to myself than to him.

I want him to lead. I don’t want to take care of anyone. I want someone, Victor, to take care of me. Consequences be damned. I lift onto my tiptoes and place small kisses on his neck and then his jaw before finally finding his lips.

Victor’s body freezes for a second. My hands on his chest detect the increased heartbeats. And the vein on the side of his neck pulses.

“What are you doing?”

Victor disentangles himself from my hold and looks down into my eyes. I hold his gaze and try to communicate my desire to him. He lifts up my chin with his finger.

“Say it, Tia.”

“I want you.”

A thousand pounds lift off my chest and I breathe easier.

He lets out a heavy sigh.

He releases me and takes out his phone from his jeans pocket. After he does something on the screen, he places the phone down on the desk and music starts playing.

“It’s John Legend,Conversations in the Dark. My way of communicating with you.”

He comes back and wraps his arms around my waist. I automatically drape my arms on his neck, and we sway with the slow music. Our bodies are not in sync with the music, moving way too slow, but our heartbeats are in sync, beating way too fast.

Victor whispers the words of the song in my ear and his hot breath sends shivers down my body. The words are breathtaking. I close my eyes and imagine that Victor is the guy from the song who believes I’m perfect the way I am, who swears never to change me, who promises to never break my heart. And I’m lost. I believe him.

His hands slide up, brushing the outline of my breasts with his fingers and down to my hips, making small circles. He repeats the move few times and I find myself nodding into his chest. But what am I agreeing to? Did he ask me a question?

Victor’s hands fall to below my hips and rest on my stomach and stay there… for two seconds. His thumbs find the spot that’s aching for him and he rubs it slowly over my clothes.

I moan, hardly believing how responsive my body is to this man. I can’t get enough of him.

As soon as the sound of pleasure escapes my mouth, his hands move quickly to my butt, lifting me off the ground. He takes a few steps and deposits me on the wooden desk. Victor eases me out of my shirt and drops it on the floor next to us, his eyes never leaving mine. He reaches to my back and unclasps my sports bra. He’s taking off my clothes as if he’s undoing me layer by layer.

Victor’s gaze lowers to my breasts and he takes a sharp breath. My nipples harden with desire for him to touch me, but he doesn’t. He helps me stand up and crouches in front of me. His gaze locks with mine and the message I read in his eyes is undeniable. He needs me. I am his oxygen. Victor hooks his trembling fingers on the elastic of my running shorts and my thong and freezes.

“Yes, Victor. I told you. I want you. I want this.”

His smile reaches his eyes and he tugs my clothes down to my ankles. I kick my shoes off and step out of my clothes.

I’m naked in front of a kneeling Victor. I push aside any feelings of self-consciousness and place my hands on his shoulders. He stands and my hands fall to his chest. Victor’s chest is moving up and down with an increased speed, matching my own heartbeats. He takes off his T-shirt and neatly places it on the desk.
