Alek laughs. “One of my teammates is having a party.”

My eyes grow wide. “And?” I squeal.

Alek laughs again. “And I want to ask you if you wanted to come with me, Abi, and Victor?”

“You didn’t even have to ask.” I do a fist pump in the air. “I can’t believe my brother is letting me go to a party,” I tease.

“Oh, I’ll keep my eye on you, Twinkle.”

“I doubt that.” I glance at Abi and smile. Alek won’t be able to keep his eyes off her once we’re done getting ready for the party.

“Pick you up at nine?”

“It’s tonight?” That’s just two hours away.

Abi doesn’t look surprised. She’s just staring lovingly at my brother to the point where I’m getting grossed out.

“Alek, you need to get out. We have to get ready.”

Abi gives me a knowing look.

“Friday night party!” I scream as my brother is closing the front door.

Once we’re alone, Abi and I dash to her bathroom and I get to work. I read the labels of all her makeup and creams. I raise my eyebrows at her when I find brand new tubes of foundation and unopened bright red lipstick.

“Aww, this will be perfect for you, Abi.”

We rummage through her wardrobe.

“No jeans and T-shirt tonight. Look at the awesome dresses you have lined up here… with the tags still on.”

“My mom got them for me, but I thought they were too much.”

“Not tonight they aren’t.”

We’re ready in about an hour. Abi’s phone beeps and she swipes the screen. “Okay, they’re outside.”

I let Abi walk out first and watch Alek’s eyes grow so big they practically pop out of their sockets. Abi blushes and gets in the front seat of the car. Victor’s sitting in the back seat and pushes the door open for me. I take my place next to him. Although I’m excited about the party, tonight is about Abi. I’m wearing black jeans and a black off-shoulder blouse.

Victor’s staring at me but doesn’t say anything. And he doesn’t have to. His eyes speak the words his mouth can’t say in front of Alek. His hands are twitching to touch me and he wipes them on his jeans. I snicker. I want to touch him so badly, and the way Alek drives and glances at Abi, I doubt Alek would notice. At a red light, I peer at the couple in the front to find my brother kissing Abi’s hand, whispering how beautiful she is.

I reach for Victor’s thigh and stroke it from his knee to his hip. Victor lets out a heavy breath.

“You keep this up and it’ll end badly,” he whispers.

“Not for me.” I giggle.

He blows a hot breath over my naked shoulder and I shiver.

Tonight is about letting go and enjoying myself, spending time with the people I love.Love.I haven’t said those words to Victor yet, but I will tonight.

The house party doesn’t disappoint. I can see why it’s the perfect location to gather huge football players. The lawn is large and the house enormous. With a broad grin on my face, I’m light on my feet, bouncing on my heels.

As soon as Alek and Abi walk in, they are surrounded by his teammates and their girlfriends.

“Let them socialize,” Victor says, and he pulls me gently by my hand.

“Don’t be antisocial. Let’s meet his teammates.”
