"We'll protect them with our lives," Elias said solemnly. "We'll go back. But Axoular is staying with you.”
"And if anything happens to either one of them," Alexander added to reassure Riley's other two husbands. "I'll make sure that they pay." He smiled. "But nothing will happen. The whole town is on red alert."
His phone beeped, and he pulled it out of his pocket to check the screen. "Damn."
"What is it?" I asked, instantly worried. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, nothing." He squeezed my arm. "The pediatrician I wanted most is on maternity leave herself. I have others I can contact."
He glared at Doryu and Roan. "I'm leaving you with the baby. Make sure he stays safe."
"Of course, sire," Roan said. His voice dripped sarcasm. Alexander was in total king mode, but with us, he really should've toned it down. We were his friends and family right now, not his subjects.
I forgave him, though. He had a ton of pressure on him right now, from all sides, to end this crazy debacle with the Leyak.
"And you two." Alexander looked at Riley and me. "Stay close to Cindy. Be on your toes."
"Yes, sire," we said in unison and then giggled.
He glared at us.
"What?" Riley asked innocently.
"You know what." He shook his head and opened the door.
Cindy chuckled. "I think the king is worried about you two."
"He should be," Riley said. "We're quite the duo."
"I heard that," Alexander called from the doorway. "Be careful." He left Doryu and Roan in the room with the scientist, Dr. Karon, and the baby.
"We will," we said in unison again, and then he was gone.
"So," Cindy said. "What are we shopping for first?"
"A name," I said. "This little guy needs a name."
Riley nodded. "I like that idea."
Cindy put her hands on her hips. "Any ideas?"
We both shook our heads. "Nope," Riley said.
"I have no idea what to name a baby," I added.
"Hmm." Cindy tapped her chin. "Well, what are the baby's parents' names?"
"Um."
I looked at Riley, who shrugged and said, "As far as I know the mother forcibly had her eggs removed. We released several Sárkány women from the Leyak compound. We didn't find any men, so presumably, they all have Sárkány mothers and Leyak fathers."
"That's messed up," Cindy muttered. "But yes, that would make sense."
"So, what are the Sárkány women's names?" I asked.
"I don't know," Cindy said. "Perhaps Axoular would know?"
He shook his head. “I do not. We will find out, though.”
