“The poor guy is going to think he’s crazy, or keep trying to prove he’s right.” I leaned over and put my bowl of popcorn between us to share, and he grabbed a handful.
“Nah, we tried that spell out on him. Once we were safe from the court system we told him the truth and did the spell. He’ll be closely monitored. As for the trailer, he loves his trailer and doesn’t want to move. The guy has plenty of money.”
“Oh, well cool. To each their own, I guess.” In my hometown if you couldn’t afford to buy a house you typically rented a trailer or apartment. Some chose trailers, but I’d always gone for the apartments.
“I came for a reason,” he said around a mouthful of popcorn. “But also to hang out.”
“Oh? What’s up?”
“I stopped in Zander’s office to drop my files on my case, and he was getting a report from that human scientist. They’re ready.”
Acid dropped into my stomach. I knew what I was going to say to Kelly, but it didn’t make the delivery any easier. “Tomorrow?”
“Yup. Got anything to drink?”
I snorted and leaned over the side of the bed. In college I’d bought a teeny fridge that held six cans. When I’d been deciding what to pack or keep, I kept it. The walk down to the castle kitchen was ridiculous just for a drink. The best part was that the cook kept small bottles of juice and water in the kitchen so I was able to put a variety in my fridge. It was the little things in life that made a big difference.
“Juice, water, or soda?”
“Juice sounds good,” he said, obviously skeptical, but his attitude changed when I produced a small bottle of apple. “It’s even cold!”
We settled in to watch the movie, but I couldn’t get Kelly off of my mind. After a half hour of my restlessness, Roan reached across me and grabbed the remote to pause the movie. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m nervous about tomorrow.”
“Would you like me to take your mind off of it?” He wagged his eyebrows up and down dramatically and gave me an exaggerated wink.
His idea wasn’t half bad. “What did you have in mind?”
He didn’t answer; instead he leaned over and pressed his lips to mine. “How’s this?” he mumbled against my mouth.
“Mmmmm-hmmmmm,” I replied before moving the popcorn bowl and drinks out of the way. I returned my lips to his and arched against him, ready for his distraction.
I’d been under my covers in a tee and panties, but he was fully clothed. I sat up, trying to yank his shirt over his head as I rose. Roan pulled back and did it for me, then kicked off his shoes and shimmied out of his jeans.
He tried to tug my shirt off but couldn’t manage it, so I did. Soon we were both totally naked.Neither of us was in the mood to play around first.
I almost screamed out as he glided into me. I was thankful for the tapestries on the walls to deaden the sound when I couldn’t contain my cries any longer, especially when he started that vibration thing they could do.
As soon as I started to come down from the high of the first big O, Roan pulled out and turned me over without so much as a please or thank you.
My moans turned to cries faster in that position and my body trembled as another orgasm swept over me. His finger quickly found my most sensitive place and took me over the edge.
He turned on that vibrating muscle his people had, and I screamedwith another orgasm.
I’d had all I could take. I wasn’t sure if I could be brought to orgasm again, not after he’d worn me out three times.
Luckily for my exhaustion, he was almost done. As he reached his own completion, he turned into a love bug, kissing and caressing me as I lay on him, exhausted. He ran his hands up and down my back and murmured sweet flirtations in my ear.
After a few minutes it became uncomfortable to lie on him, so I slid to the side, and he turned so he could hold me. That’s how we fell asleep.

Unfortunately, his distraction didn’t last the entire night. My nerves overpowered the exhaustion, and I woke several times, dreading the morning.
As it tends to, eventually the sun rose. I was already awake and watched the light break through the curtains. Roan slept on, on his stomach with one leg cocked up and over mine. He was a bed hog.
I’d had plenty of time to think over my decision to sleep with Roan, and I refused to feel guilty. He’d provided me with a distraction and in a roundabout way, some comfort. In my new topsy turvy life, I’d take it wherever I could get it.
