I tore my gaze away and watched the screen. Griffin wore a slim-fit navy suit and Amanda a pale-yellow dress. Her crown was replaced with a tiara. Tiny baby Andee sat in her lap in a white satingown.

Griffin was still staring at me. I could feel his gaze boring into the side of myface.

I faced him again. “I believeyou.”

His surprised laugh boomed again. “What choice do you have with this proof? You can’t deny who she is.” His breath caught in his throat. “Who shewas.”

“Have you talked to anyone?” Iasked.

“What do you mean?” hereplied.

“About her death. Have you talked to a professional?” I took his hand. “It couldn’thurt.”

He squeezed my hand. “I can’t. I’m not allowed. I talk to Ellion and Chandler and that’ll have to beenough.”

My temper began to rise. “You’re notallowed?” That had to be amistake.

“I’m not allowed. None of the royal family is allowed to speak to a psychiatrist or mental health professional.” His jaw hardened. He waspissed.

“What could they do to you if you did?” Iasked.

“Take all my money,” hesaid.

My mouth fell open. “Did they give you themoney?”

“No,” he said. “But it’s a clause in the prenup. There are certain things I absolutely can’t do. If I do them, the sum total of all of my holdings becomes property of thecrown.”

I jumped up, outraged. “They can’t do that.” I exclaimed. “Who do they think theyare?”

“Well, they’re royalty. They think they can do whatever they want to,” replied Chandler. “And pretty much theycan.”

“Not in the US, right? If you stay here, they can’t take your money.” I waved my arms around, unable to process the information without talking with myhands.

“Actually,” said Ellion, “they hired American attorneys to make sure it was all legal in the US. As long as he signed it, it was legal. And he signedit.”

“Of course I signed it.” Griffin’s voice deepened into a growl. “I loved her more than I’ve ever loved anyone in my life. I would’ve signed my soulaway.”

“Well, that’s awful,” I said. “I happen to know three fantastic lawyers. If we ever get out of this freaking blizzard, I’ll make sure they have a look.” If anyone could get him out of that ridiculous contract, my brotherscould.

I sat back on the couch between Griffin and Ellion. A prince. Former prince, but still. That was a lot to take in. I was sitting in the presence of royalty. Not to mention how hot was it that Chandler and Ellion were highly trained, badass bodyguards? I shivered. “So you guys are bodyguards. Do you know how to fight? I mean, reallyfight.”

Ellion’s eyebrows twitched. “Yeah, we can reallyfight.”

Could I ask? I had to ask. “Could you showme?”

Chandler’s eyes twinkled. “You want us to spar?” He went limp in the chair and rolled back a few feet. “Seriously? Now?”

“You’re mad because I always kick your butt,” said Ellion. “Besides, there’s not anything we can do about Hunter right now. We are as guarded as we can be, and he’s gone, who knowswhere.”

My mouth fell open. Sweet, nervous Ellion always won against tall, lithe Chandler? “This I have tosee.”

Chandler crossed his arms and pouted. “Nah. I’m not feelingit.”

“What if it’s for a prize?” Iasked.

Chandler cocked his head. “Maybe.”

“What if the winner gets a big kiss?” I shivered, excited by my daringquestion.
