“You can tell them that we’re done with filming for today. She just blew me, and I know my vibe is going to be thrown off if we continue to film,” Toni looked over at me to say.
I was cool with that because I knew that once she finished with Zayne’s hair, there wouldn’t be nothing going on over here that was entertaining enough for the crew to want to finish shooting.
I left out of the room, so that I could go downstairs, and when I found the crew, they were already wrapping up, telling me that they’d gotten enough footage for the day, and that they would be back in a couple of days, so it worked out perfectly. I stayed down long enough, watching them as they packed up, and once they were out the door, I locked up, and went back in the bedroom.
I took a seat on the bed and Toni had her back turned to me, so her ass was facing my direction. Just out of habit, I used both hands to rub on her ass, and a couple of minutes into me doing that, my phone started ringing on the bed. I looked down at the caller, seeing that it was Ivory hitting me.
Ivory was Sapphire’s older sister. She was inconsistent as fuck when it came to her role in Zayne’s life. I’ll never forget the way her ass looked me in my eyes at Sapphire’s funeral, telling me that she was going to be in Zayne’s life, help whenever it was needed, and just do for my son what she knew her sister would have wanted her to do. Her ass didn’t do any of that shit. She came around whenever she felt like it. The last time Zayne saw Ivory was back in December. It was a couple of days after Christmas. We met up with her at an arcade, where she spent a little time with him, and Zayne was standoffish with her damn near the whole time because he didn’t have much of a relationship with her, so technically, her ass was like a stranger to him.
“Yo,” I answered the phone for her, putting the phone to my ear.
By this point, my hands were no longer rubbing on Toni. My eyes were still glued to her though.
“Hi brother. What you doing?” she inquired.
“I’m chilling. At the crib. What’s going on?” I wanted to know.
“Okay. I just landed in Miami about twenty minutes ago. I’m only here for a couple of days, but I’m here on business. Can I swing by to see Zayne really fast? I got him some things too,” she responded.
A couple of things that she said to me stood out. One, I’ve never known Ivory to be the kind of person to work, so the business that she was here on was very fuckin questionable. Secondly, Ivory has been over before in the past to see Zayne, but she’s never been over here while I was with Toni. That would be a first. Toni already made it clear to me before that she didn’t care for Ivory.
“Why every time you come to Miami, you tell me that shit at the last minute? You move as if a nigga is supposed to be on yourtime. Why you never let me know in advance when you’re going to be here, so that I can make the proper accommodations for Zayne to see you? Literally, the last couple of times that you’ve seen him, you hit me with that shit the same day,” I said to her, and Toni turned her head, and she gave me a questioning look, wondering who I was talking to.
“Zion, I just found out this morning that I had to come to Miami. I was trying to get shit in order, so I forgot to call or text you. I apologize for that. I’m going to work on it. Can I please come see my nephew though? I picked up some things for him a while back, and I brought them with me. I won’t be long. I’ll stay for a few minutes, and go,” she said.
“Hold on,” I said, muting the phone.
“T, this Ivory. She wants to come and see Zayne. I ain’t want to tell her to come without running the shit by you and seeing how you felt about it. It’s cool if she come see him?” I asked, just doing that shit out of respect.
“Zion, you know I don’t care if she comes to see her nephew. I’ll just stay upstairs,” she let me know.
“Aight, cool,” I said, and I put the phone back to my ear.
“It’s cool. You can come see him. How long is it going to take you to get here? Toni doing his hair,” I let her know.
“I’m still at the airport. I’m waiting for them to bring me a rental car. Once I have it, it’ll probably take me about thirty minutes to get to you. I’ll just text you when I’m on the way,” she said.
I told her that that was cool, and then we hung up. From there, I lay back on the bed, putting my hands behind my head, turning my head a little bit, so that I could watch my baby girl, who was still knocked out in the bed.
“That was my auntie Ivory?” Zayne asked, snapping me out of the daze that I was in.
“Yeah. She about to come see you for a little bit. You cool with that?” I asked him.
“I don’t mind,” he was nonchalant in his response.
“Baby, you sure you cool with her coming over? I know you in the middle of doing his hair. I don’t want you feeling like I’m forcing that shit on you,” I voiced, looking over at Toni.
In the past, we ran into an issue before where I wanted her to go to Atlanta with me, so that she could meet Sapphire’s mom. Well, that wasn’t the purpose of the trip. I was going to take Zayne to spend time with his grandma, but I wanted Toni to come with me. She gave me flack about it, talked in circles about going with me, and I was so hell bent on her going with me, that I didn’t realize that I was lowkey forcing that shit on her. I didn’t want this situation to be like that.
“Steel, I’m fine. You know I would never deny Zayne the chance to spend time with any of his family members. While he’s down there with her, I’ll just stay up in the room, and finish looking over some of these papers. I’m okay,” she replied, and I knew that she was telling the truth, so I went ahead, and dropped it.
Five minutes later, Ivory texted me, letting me know that she had the rental car, and that she was on the way. She gave me her ETA, and I laid back, just going to wait it out until she arrived.
I ended up dosing off, and the sound of my phone buzzing on my chest is what woke me up. It was the security guard at the front gate calling me, letting me know that Ivory was here, and asking me if it was okay for me to let her in. I told him it was fine, and that’s when I stood up from the bed. Toni had a little more than half of Zayne’s hair finished. From what I could see, it looked as if she only had two rows left to plait.
I walked up behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist, burying my head into the crook of her neck, and I started placing light kisses there.
“That shit looks nice, baby. You have so many hidden talents. I swear you a jack of all trades. You got a lot of fashion sense, you know how to do your make-up, you can style your hair, you braid Zayne, and Brooklyn’s hair so nice. Damn, is there anything that you can’t do?” I asked, slipping my hands down to her ass, and holding it. She laughed at what I said, but at the same time, she was eating it all up.
