“Yes. I did. I have tons of followers who enjoy my life.”

“So a video of two girls playing music will help you on that front? Sad, Aaron. That’s sad.”

“It will and plus, you guys are cool. Don’t worry. I put the hashtag you love on it.” He clapped his hands and walked to the couch like he owned the place. “Now, what are you two up to tonight?”

“I’m not sure.” I studied Greta’s reaction and she shrugged. I hadn’t heard from Zade, not that I expected to. We weren’t going to be those people who spent every second together…or I told myself that all day when I hadn’t heard from him. I was playing it cool.As cool as a cucumber.“G?”

“We need to all go out and celebrate your shadowing opportunity. It’s Saturday. The nights are cooling off. Guys? See? It’s settled.”

“Wait, what’s settled? What are we doing?” I queried.

“We are showing you what you missed while you were basking in a free year, sister.” Greta put her arm around me and addressed the boys. “We’ll start getting ready. We’ll pregame here this time.”

“Can we bring other girls? You guys are great, but I’m not getting my rocks off with either of you,” Aaron said without a flicker of shame. “What? What did I say?”

“Bye, Aaron. See you later.” Greta pushed him out of the apartment and paused slightly before motioning Tanner to leave. “See ya.”

He walked out but gave her a scathing look. I nodded. “Yup. I saw it, too.”

“He can’t do that to me after he specifically told me we were friends. Ugh!”

I went up to hug her. “Remember how you said I’d be your wingman? I still am. I’ll help you drive him crazy tonight.”

“What about your new boo-thang?” Her mouth twitched at her creative nickname for him. It made no sense yet I liked it all the same.

“Boo-thangdoesn’t matter right now. We are going out to celebrate the amazing start to the year and I can do what I damn well please. And getting a little tipsy with my best friend sounds fun. And if we break a couple hearts,c’est la vie.”

“God, where were you my freshman year?”

I let Greta dress me again. It had worked well the first time, so why the hell not? She chose a metallic-y silver dress that ended inches below my ass. I never wore clothes this revealing, but it kind of made me feel awesome and mature. It went well with my long hair curled by Greta and my eye makeup just a little jazzed up. Greta wore something similar, only a tad shorter and lower-cut. She had a rockin’ body and our goal tonight was to piss off Tanner into making a move or to have her find a new fling.Mygoal was to be a good friend to her and enjoy Zade. My stomach swooped into back handsprings when I thought about seeing him again. I checked my phone to see if he’d texted me back. He had.

Zade: We’re on our way. See you soon.

Zade: Oh, my god. Aaron showed me the video.

Callie: What?! We were messing around. It was stupid.

Zade: No. No. It fucking rocked. It’s another reason why I can’t get you out of my head.

Callie: To clarify, it was a good ‘oh, my god?’

Zade: Hells yeah, to quote you.

Callie: I am quite quotable.

Zade: They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And yes, before you asked, I researched that.

I held my phone to my chest and smiled. He had no idea that looking up a quote to text me meant a whole lot of things I didn’t want to analyze. Greta shouted for me, so I grabbed my clutch for the night and nodded to the music. “Eighties party mix? Nice touch.”

“Thank you. But important question. Bra or no bra?” She struck a pose. “What do you think now?”

“I can’t tell if you have one on or not. Twirl around. Pretend to dance. If you have a nip slip, perhaps try wearing one.”

“Good call.” She weaved and danced around the apartment, nip-slip free. I gave her a thumbs-up and she smiled. “Nice. My goal is to dance with Tanner at some point and get him to notice.”

“Are you playing with fire, G?”

“Yup, and I want to get burned so bad.” She widened her eyes at the ‘bad’ and I laughed. She was the coolest person ever. “Now, you and Zade. Are you dating?”
