“You’re an adult, and your brother will understand if we want to be together. If he needs to hit me, I can handle him, but I’m more concerned about you.” He cupped my face, and a sad expression flashed across his. Whatever he was going to say shifted, and he offered his signature smirk instead. The playful look returned to his eyes, but the reappearance of his usual grin felt like a punch to the gut.
“Dani,” he said, playing with the ends of my hair. “Let’s enjoy the weekend together, no strings attached. We can hang out, relax, and drink during the day, but we’re naked every time we’re in this room.”
“We don’t tell Sam?”
“I’ll leave that to you.”
“Just for the weekend?”
“Again, your choice.”
“I’m in. I’m so in,” I said, smashing my lips to his. This was the out I needed to protect myself. Two more days of enjoying Cooper should be enough to get him out of my system before we ruined everything. He grinned against my mouth, but the smile stopped when I sucked his tongue, hard.
“Whoa, Dani, I didn’t know this talk would turn you even more wild.”
“Lots you don’t know about me, Coop.”
“Then let’s find out.”
* * * *
I woke up with his face between my thighs and on the edge of an orgasm before completely losing myself to him. It was a hell of a way to greet the day, which only got better when he suggested we shower together in the tiny stall. He completely shattered my orgasm record, and it hadn’t even been twenty-four hours since we’d first fucked.
It was an addicting feeling, that was for sure.
Even watching him and Sam talk at dinner the next night, I counted down the minutes until we could get back to our room and try something new.
“Is rooming with Cooper okay?” Juliet asked me in a quiet voice. “I know you’re uncertain about him.”
“Wait, what do you mean?”
“Your brother brushes it off every time, but I can tell Cooper makes you nervous. Unsure if you’re attracted to him or if you really dislike him.” She laughed but put a hand on mine. “I know you’re here because of how much you love Sam, and I’m so grateful you’re with us.”
Her statement made me blink to catch my bearings. He always had me second guessing myself but was it because I knew he had the power to hurt me? Because I’d fantasized about being naked with him countless times?
I matched her smile and caught Cooper staring at me with questions in his eyes. He needed to knock that off if we didn’t want Sam to find out. I focused on Juliet again. “We’re okay. We have a detailed history, but we’re making it work.”
“He keeps looking at you.”
“It’s because I’m a pain in his ass. He’s plotting retribution.”
“I don’t think that’s it, but Dani,” she said, her voice getting serious. “If it’s more, it’s okay.”
My throat got tight again, and I narrowed my eyes at her. “What?”
“What are you ladies talking about? I hate secrets, Jules,” Sam said, pulling his fiancé into his lap and kissing her loudly. “You had your serious face on babe.”
My pulse sped up with nervousness at being found out.
“Just girl talk. Absolutely none of your business, you nosy bitch,” she said to Sam, making us all laugh. I loved her so damn much and was so thankful she was going to be family.
Her words repeated in my mind.If it’s more, it’s okay.
If what was more? Me and Cooper? Did she know? How? What if she told Sam her suspicions?
“How’s your food, Baby D?” Cooper asked in the same bored tone he used around me all day in front of Sam.
“Great. How’s yours?”
