He scanned Felix next and gave him a treatment. “You need another plasma infusion. One more day of observation, then I’ll release you to Captain Coor.”

The pretty blond nurse and Medic Haggard walked off to check on other patients, leaving them alone.

“So, what’s happened since I’ve been out?” Faith asked.

“I don’t know that much. These Drastans are tight-lipped. But your boyfriend is turning this place upside down, rooting out all the traitors behind the raid. He’s scary.”

“He’s doing his job. Did he question you?”

“Yes, and I gave him all the information I had. It was a stupid plan that Waller came up with. I was never behind it, but desperation causes people to make stupid decisions. We were slowly starving and needed supplies.”

“I thought we were doing okay,” Faith said.

“She’s pregnant.”

Faith knew whoshewas. “You’re sure it’s yours?”

“I’m the only one Cary’s been with since coming to our tribe.”

Now it made more sense. She understood why he agreed to these raids, even agreeing to use weapons. He was trying to provide for his baby. It didn’t excuse him, but it explained some of his decisions.

“I’m sorry for how I treated you. You deserved better than an ass for a brother. When you were missing after the raid, I thought I was going to lose it. The tribe had to hold me back from storming the dome.”

“That would have been bad. How did you find me at the museum?”

“One of Waller’s people mentioned rumors of a woman escaping the dome. I knew it had to be you. You didn’t come home, so I knew there was only place you would go—the museum.”

“How did you know about that place?”

“Please, I knew it the first time you snuck off. I should have put a stop to it, but when you came back, there was always a light in your eyes. It reminded me of when you were little. I can be a bastard, but I couldn’t bring myself to dampen that light.”

Faith snorted. “I knew I couldn’t hide anything from you.”

“You’ve always been an open book, kid.”

“I’m not a kid anymore,” she told him softly.

He nodded. “I know. You’ve grown up to be a smart, sweet, and stubborn woman. Mom and Dad would be proud.”

That surprised her. Felix rarely complimented anyone. “Thanks.”

“The only issue I have with you is your taste in aliens.”

Faith narrowed her eyes at him. “Don’t start.”

Felix held up his hands. “I’ve said my piece to the big guy. He made it clear that you were his mate and if I wanted to still be a part of your life, I would have to accept the relationship.”

“He did?” Her heart beat faster, swelling with so much love for Logan. She wished he was here right now so she could tell him.

“Yes.”

“Do you? Accept our relationship?”

“Depends. Do you love him?”

“Yes,” she said without hesitation.

“You barely know him,” Felix said with doubt in his voice.
