“Felix! Watch out!” she called out.

She felt helpless as she watched everything move in slow motion. Her brother tripping as he tried to get out of the way. Waller countering his move and hitting Felix in his side with the knife.

Oh God, no! “Felix!”

Faith didn’t know where she found the strength and energy. She rushed forward, shoving Waller off Felix. She put pressure on the bleeding wound. Her entire focus was on saving her brother. She wasn’t watching her back.

“Bitch! I’m going to cut you next!”

Waller raised the knife and would have struck her, but suddenly, Logan was there. He had Waller by the neck and lifted him off the ground like he was a rag doll. His other hands knocked the knife from Waller’s grasp. Waller tried to hit Logan to make him drop his grip, but it didn’t work.

“Faith… so sorry,” Felix said through gasps of pain.

“Shhh. There’s nothing to be sorry for.”

“I treated you… not as you deserved.”

“Hey, you saved us. You had to do what you had to do in order to keep us alive. Now, I’m going to do what I must do to keep you alive.”

She looked back to see the color had drained from Waller’s face. He was slowly being choked; the life squeezing out of him bit by bit. He deserved it, but right now; he wasn’t important.

“Logan! I need your help.”

Logan refused to let Waller go.

“Logan! Please. I need your help!”

Logan glanced down at her and something shifted in his expression from a holy terror to concern for her. He threw Waller to the ground, where he hit hard and didn’t move.

“Are you bleeding?” Logan was at her side in an instant.

“It’s not my blood. Felix is hurt, badly. Help him.”

“I’ll do what I can. Move over.”

She slid over for Logan to take her place but didn’t get far. Faith collapsed next to Felix. Her spurt of energy now deflated.

“Faith?” Logan asked.

“I’m just going to rest. Save my brother. Promise me.”

“I promise.”

Faith reached for her brother, who was looking at her with concern. “I love you.”

Then she let the darkness take her again.

“Faith!”
