Chapter 31
Logan
They used a heat signature tracking system to follow the subway tunnel trail. His own senses could pick up Faith’s scent. He would know it from anywhere. As they grew closer, the scent grew stronger, mixed with…
“Blood.” Faith’s blood. She was bleeding.
“What was that?” Dome Leader Winstead asked.
“Shh!”
“Don’t shush me!”
“Be quiet, or I will knock you out.”
Logan glared at the male until he took several steps back.
“Captain, there are two heat signatures ahead about ten meters,” Marque whispered.
“One of you stay here with Dome Leader Winstead in case they try to escape this way. The rest will come with me.”
“See here, this is my territory…”
Logan growled. “You will shut up and do as I ordered or suffer the consequences. Faith is bleeding. They are hurting her and it’s because of your careless security that she could die.”
“Sir, the two heat signatures are moving.”
It worried him that there were only two signatures. Two males had carried Faith away. Where was the third heat signature?
He led the way, his warriors flanking either side of him, two of the human soldiers following closely. His hearing picked up two male voices yelling at one another.
“Where the hell did she go?”
“How am I supposed to know? You passed out while I took a leak. You should have checked on her.”
“Waller is going to blame both of us. She couldn’t have gone far, not in the shape Waller left her in.”
“Man, I was looking forward to getting a taste of that bitch.”
Logan growled low. He had heard enough. He dismissed his warriors, trying to hold him still, and shoved through. As soon as he turned the corner, he saw the puny human males jump back at his sudden appearance.
“Where is Faith?” he demanded.
The two men nearly tumbled backward. “Whoa! Who are you?”
They reached for their guns. Marque and Powers quickly moved forward and removed the human’s weapons. Then they gripped the males to stand before Logan.
“I am your worst nightmare. Captain Logan Coor of the Drastan empire. You two are charged with assisting in the kidnapping of a human girl and in the participation in the raid attack that caused injuries to two humans and one Drastan warrior.”
“We didn’t take the girl and you can’t prove we had any part in the raid four days ago!” one male said.
“I didn’t say the raid happened four days ago.” Logan narrowed his eyes.
The other human tried to cover up the slip. “Word spreads quickly in the tunnels. Everyone knows about the raid. We didn’t have any part of it.”
“Our interrogator will find out,” one of the human soldiers threatened.
“No need. We Drastans have our own ways of getting to the truth. Warriors Marque and Powers, take these two back to the dome. You soldier, show them to a holding cell. No one talks to the prisoners until I return.”
