That was not what he was expecting her to say.
Her face turned a weird shade of light green. Her hand flew up to cover her mouth. She got up and rushed straight to her bathroom.
Logan nearly knocked his chair over, getting up to follow her. He could hear her throwing up and then smelled it. Walking inside the small bathing unit, he saw her hunched over the waste receptacle. He grabbed a washcloth and wetted it with cool water. Then he moved closer to help pull her hair back.
“You shouldn’t be in here,” she said as she sat on the floor
He wiped her face. “Where else would I be? I promised to take care of you.”
“Yeah, but all men say that. They don’t really mean it.”
“I am not like all human males. When I say something, I mean it. It is an honor to care for you. This is to be expected. It is your body’s way of flushing out the radiation after your intense treatment. It’s natural.”
“Natural but unpleasant. I must look like a mess.”
“You look beautiful.”
They stared into each other’s eyes. There was a connection between them. He could no longer deny it. The female had him wrapped around her tiny finger. This made things easy, but also more complicated.
She moved to stand, but she wobbled a bit. “I need to take another shower and change. I think I threw up on my shirt and in my hair.”
He helped steady her. “When you are ready, I’ll take you to the medical facility for a checkup and another round of treatments.”
She nodded but said nothing. He handed her the washcloth, then left, closing the door to the bathing room behind him. Logan wasn’t sure how it happened, but in a short amount of time, he had grown an attachment to the small, fragile, and beautiful female. Logan would need to speak to his commanders. He had a mission to complete, and he had to ensure his feelings for Faith did not interfere. That was proving to be difficult.
