“Hi,” she whispered as she yawned and stretched. Her feet kicked the covers down, revealing that she only wore a shirt that rose to her hips. It left her legs exposed. He had to clear his throat.

“Hello, Faith. How are you feeling?”

“Better. How was your day?”

He chuckled at the natural banter. “Busy. The food has arrived. Are you hungry?”

“Food? Authentic food?”

“Well, it would be hard to serve imaginary food.”

She snorted. “Smartass.”

He frowned. “I don’t know what my ass has to do with my intelligence.”

Faith broke out into laughter. He didn’t mind that it was at his expense. The sound of her laughter lightened his heart.

“It’s an Earth saying. It means you are jesting or teasing with your words.”

“Ah, I understand.” He held out his hand. “Shall we eat?”

She took his hand. The zing of electricity from their touch was immediate. “Yes, please. I’m starving.”

Me too.He thought. But it wasn’t just food he was hungry for.
