Goalie, you got one in. Just on the wrong guy!

I chuckled knowing Cap meant when Ronan knocked me to my ass.

Tate

Pretty sure my ass is bruised from it.

Fitz

Randy is pissed. You’re going to have a lot of explaining to do.

Ronan

You just want an excuse to show off his little nickname to us. We get it!

Ryan

Bad boys are the new golden boys.

Jordan

Any news yet?

Tate

None yet, but game suspension is highly likely.

I rolled my eyes and pocketed my phone. Presley had gone upstairs to the guest room already. I quietly slipped out of the sliding door, onto the back porch. The mint gum had nothing on a cigarette, especially after a night like tonight, but it’d have to do. I couldn’t help but glance over at Alli’s dark house. I didn’t regret the fight, but I wish it hadn’t caused so much work for her.

Chapter 35- Alli

I paced back and forth in my office. The PR nightmare Tate and TJ’s fight had caused was of epic proportions. The headache threatened to split my head open. I rubbed my temples.

“Meeting with James, twenty minutes.” Talia stuck her head in.

“Thank you!” Emalyn gave a little finger wave from her spot in my chair, feet propped up on my desk. “Honestly, I vote that you go in there and tell Jameson that you’re gonna run the PR department and keep the cowboy while you do. It is no longer a man’s world, honey.”

“Em. Stop.” A smile cracks through, though I try to fight it.

“Have you watched the fight? It was hot.” She shrugs, unashamed when I glare at her. It doesn’t last long. My shoulders drop and I sink down onto the windowsill.

“I did.”

“How many times?” Emalyn’s eyebrows bounce up and down. A grin spreads across her face when she notices my cheeks heating. “A hundred?”

“Possibly.” I cover my face with both hands as she cackles. “We already know, TJ had it comingfor a long time. I was worried about Hudson seeing that.”

“Puh-lease!” She broke the word into two syllables, “He loved it. Poor Hudson probably wishes he could’ve done it himself.”

My desk timer beeps. Time to go face the CCO. I take a deep breath in and release it slowly. This meeting is going to determine basically my whole life and career.

Jameson’s door is already open for me when I get there. I knock on the door anyways. He moves the papers to the side as he looks up at me. “Come on in, Alli.”

I give a nervous smile, quickly shutting the door and taking a seat across from him.

“I have to say, Alli, you haven't surprised me one bit.” His fingers lace together on the desk. I try not to outwardly react, but inwardly my chin jerks back. “You have been steady and reliable. You’ve handled crises that would’ve broken other PR teams. You’ve protected this franchise and you’ve protected its players.”

A slow breath of relief escaped me.
