I’m not sure what exactly he wants us to discuss, but it’s clear that something is building between us. I’ve felt it with each passing day, and I think he has, too. I’m just not sure if what he wants to revisit is just to have sex… or if he wants more.

And if it is, am I really ready to get back in a relationship so soon?

~ The Next Day ~

I stretch my arms above my head while blinking a few times as the light filtering through the slightly parted curtains caresses my face. I expect to feel Greyson beside me or hear him grunt for waking him up with all the twisting and turning I’m doing. But when no response from him comes, I look over and find the other side of the bed now empty. I then glance at the top of the dresser next and notice his things are gone as well.

I’m not sure when exactly I fell asleep or when Greyson left the room, but the last thing I remember is listening to his heart beating against my ear.

I grab a change of clothes and head out to take a shower in the bathroom down the hall. After making myself presentable, I bring my PJs back to my room and head downstairs, where everyone is already up, even Greyson.

I guess I was in deep need of sleep after last night’s activities.

“Morning, Doll. Needed some extra hours of sleep after a late night?” Andrew snickers, not looking up from his plate. “The walls are paper thin, by the way.” A sly smirk plays along his lips.

Aubrey groans and buries her face in her hands. “Don’t remind me. My room is literally right next door to hers.”

My eyes instantly widen, and I look at Greyson, who silently chuckles while hiding his smile behind his fork as he eats. I’m all for banter and joking around with his father. But having his parents literally hear us do the deed, or whatever it is we did last night, is something I’d like to avoid. I might be crazy, but I’m notthatcrazy. There’s a limit to everything.

“Oh God… I’m so sorry… I thought we were quiet. I mean, we didn’t even… I’m gonna stop talking now. I’m sorry.” I hurry and busy myself with making a coffee.

“Ignore them, love. They’re just messing with you. He did the same with Greyson when he got up,” Nancy tells me sweetly with a bit of amusement as she comes to my side.

The doorbell suddenly chimes through the house, and we all look at each other wondering who it may be. I’m guessing no one was expecting something or someone. Aubrey shrugs as she gets up and goes to answer it while we all wait. She comes back a few seconds later carrying a package and places it on the table.

“Who’s it for?” Nancy asks.

“Me…” Aubrey says quietly as she begins to unwrap the box.

It’s a gift box covered in white and red wrapping paper like a candy cane, with a bow on the top. Clearly, this is a Christmas present for her.I wonder who it’s from.

“Who’s sending you a present here?” Grey inspects the package as well, a frown lining his features.

“I don’t know,” she murmurs, then suddenly gasps as she pulls out what appears to be a baking recipe book and lifts the front cover. “Oh my God…”

“What? What is it?” Her mom rushes over to see what Aubrey is removing from inside the book.

“How… how is this even possible? It’s been sold out for over a year!” Aubrey mumbles to herself.

“What has?” Greyson questions as I walk over to Aubrey’s side and look over her shoulder.

“It’s a ticket for a special baking class hosted by one of the world’s best pastry chefs. I wanted to buy one, but they sold out so quickly, and there were only ten spots.” She places the ticket and book down on the table, then looks back inside the box and notices a note at the bottom. Picking it up, she flips it over and silently reads it as I peer down and read along with her.

A special gift for a wonderful baker.

Merry Christmas xx - SJ

Her eyes widen as she reads the initials. She quickly wipes the surprise off her face and replaces it with a neutral expression, then looks around to make sure no one is paying attention. But the blush spreading over her cheeks can’t be contained.

Well, well, well. It appears a certain head coach sent our baby Brey a very special Christmas gift. The girls are going to love this.

Aubrey slowly looks over her shoulder at me and notices my growing smirk. “Nothing going on, huh?” I whisper with a wink, and her eyes dart all over the room while I giggle.

“Who sent you this?” Greyson asks as he reaches for the box.

Brey grabs it in a hurry and hugs it to her chest. “I don’t know, it didn’t say.”

Her gaze flicks to me, then back to Greyson and her parents. “I guess this is as good a time as any to tell you guys that I’m dropping out,” she rushes out, diverting their attention from the mysterious gift.
