After my car accident yesterday, the cameras captured our public display of affection.
Although you couldn’t hear our conversation, the footage outside the medical centre told the story. Jessica was running toward the fence before being denied access, and I was emerging from the medical car, rushing to her before holding her in my arms.
Our littlesecret from the world is that this was the moment we told each other that we loved one another.
When we watched it together in bed this morning, Jessica became shy because she thought she looked ridiculous with tears running down her face.
I, on the other hand, fell a little more in love with her by seeing that special moment all over again.
After my crash, several media outlets have also focused on that, giving Jessica and me some breathing room.
We haven’t had much time to scroll social media; instead, we’re caught up in each other, which is perfectly fine for both of us.
When we reach the Star News spot, I lean down and give her a lingering kiss, her arms coming around my neck.
“Good luck today, baby.” She says with a smile, and I go back in for another kiss.
Having Jessica in private? Amazing.
Being able to show her off in public? Even better.
“Thanks, princess. Kick some ass in the media zone today,” I tell her and give her ass a slight squeeze.
“I will, I love you, hotshot.” I pull her closer to me, soaking up the last moments together before race day begins.
“I love you too.”
Chapter 40
JESSICA
I’m waiting for Luke in our hotel room in Vienna when Lily calls me.
We decided to go to Vienna after Hungary to spend some time together before heading to England, where I’ll meet Luke’s parents.
Taking some time off from the world of F1 was necessary, especially considering all the media attention we received this weekend.
Luckily, it’s been predominantly positive, with most people being happy for us.
The whole “crying-my-eyes-out” moment after his crash, and the cameras capturing it, made us the new favourite paddock couple.
At first, I felt silly seeing my emotions plastered all over the place, but I quickly realized that I’m happy to let the world see how much I care about him.
“Hey, Lily,” I greet her as I answer the FaceTime call.
“Hey, girl! Where is lover boy?” It’s not the first time Lily has used that nickname for Lukeafter the media broke the news.
The press had a field day when they realized lover boy matched well with golden boy in their stories.
“He’s out. Said he had to get something, but he’ll be back soon,” I tell her as I settle on the couch.
“Okay then, I’ll be quick. Have you thought about his birthday? Made any plans?” I remember our first date, when we exchanged birthdays, which I’m grateful for now because Luke, being the person he is, would probably never tell me, making me the worst girlfriend ever.
He always puts others before himself, and now I’m excited to plan something special for him without him knowing.
“Yeah, I have some ideas I wanted to run by you.”
