“Well, I’ll just have to do better then,” he replies, a quiet determination in his tone. Peter would probably huff and puff, his ego out of this world. Luke? He merely says that he has to do better.
Tells me all about the man he is.
“I’m just joking with you. They’re all rooting for you. Anyone who’s seen an interview with Peter knows his ego outshines his abilities.” Luke smiles at that and lets out a breath of relief.
“That’s good. I was nervous, I not only have to win over the family off the track, imagine if I had to start winning them over on the track as well.”
We finish our meal and continue our day in the city. It’s nice having my own personal tour guide, showing me all his favouriteattractions, restaurants, and cafes around the city.
As we walk around the streets of Japan, I’m grateful not only to have the opportunity to explore the world, but also to have Luke by my side.
An amazing day with an amazing man.
Chapter 23
LUKE
When we arrive in Australia, I insist that Jessica stays with me for at least the first couple of days, which she agrees to, at least until the media team arrives in a few days.
She’s tired after our travels, so I let her rest in our room before calling Sebastian.
With the time difference, I have no clue if he’s going to answer me, but he picks up the call.
“Hey man,” I greet him, and he groans at the other end.
“Do you know what time it is?” Sebastian asks me.
“No, but if you didn’t want to talk to your best mate, then you could have just ignored the call.” I chuckle at him.
“Whatever, what’s up?” he mumbles into the phone. I tell him I’ve made it to Australia with Jessica by my side, and he wakes up at that.
“No way, have you actually gotten her back?” he asks me, and I fill him in on our amazing weekend together in Japan—the dinners, our trip to the city, and thecomfortable routine we’ve fallen into.
Falling asleep with her in my arms and waking up with her legs tangled with mine has been incredible.
“And the sex?” he asks me, being the guy that he is.
“Perfect,” I tell him simply, and he just whistles at that.
We’ve been going at it every chance we’ve had, and each time, it just gets better.
She matches me in every way and continues to surprise me in the best ways. I didn’t think it was possible to burn even hotter for each other, but with Jessica, everything is enhanced.
“That good, huh?”
Getting to know both her mind and her body these last few days in privacy has been incredible.
Having her away from the paddock makes it easier to peel back those layers of doubt and insecurity that she carries whenever someone is watching.
I fully intend to help her through every worry, no matter how long it’ll take.
One day, she will be mine both in private and in public.
I tell Sebastian that Lily is also coming to Australia this week.
We all used to hang out together when we wereyounger, and I always teased Lily about having a crush on Sebastian.
Whenever I mentioned it to Sebastian, he’d shrug it off, saying she’s just a kid.
