I may have knocked Jessica, almost on her ass, the first time I met her, but at least I didn’t accuse her of being a hooker.
“She sounds like a firecracker,” I say, making Jessica smile.
“She certainly is. All my bad decisions lead back to Sarah and all her ideas.” I can’t imagine Jessica having any bad decisions under her belt, but I’m eager to find out.
“Have you told her about me? About us?” I ask her hesitantly. Here goes nothing.
I really hope she has, since I keep blabbering about Jessica to anyone who will listen, which is limited to Robert and Sebastian.
And since Jessica is determined to keep us a secret, it’s not like I can discuss her with many others.
“Yeah, I have. I told her I met this idiot who almost knocked poor Steve down on my first day, but he’s proved himself to be quite the thoughtful man afterward.”
It makes me happy to hear that she’s told her best friend about me.
“Sure sounds like a man worthy of your time,” I tell her, and she responds with a smile.
We share a dessert before I pay the bill, and we head back to my car.
“Can I drive?” she asks me, and I raise an eyebrow at her, contemplating whether she’s being serious or not.
“Do you even have your license?” I ask, making her roll her eyes.
“Of course, hotshot, I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t.” I toss her the keys, and she gapes at me.
“Really? Luke, I was messing with you.”
I open the passenger door and get in before she can back out.
I’m not concerned.
Even if she crashes the car, I canafford a new one.
I don’t think I have the ability to say no to this girl, and I don’t even care about it. If she wants to drive my car, she’s going to drive my car.
She’s not all that confident when she slides into the driver’s seat, adjusting the seat forward.
“Really, Luke, if I damage your car, I don’t know what I’m going to do.” She’s lost some of her bravado now, but I’m not worried.
“Then, it’s simple, don’t crash my baby.” I tell her and lean back in my seat.
She starts up the car, and when she’s made sure no other cars are passing by, she drives out onto the road. I guide her around the city, and her confidence grows for each kilometre behind the wheel.
I never thought I would let anyone drive my car, not even Sebastian has.
Every time he visits, he gives me crap about how the only thing I really care about is my car.
Each time, I tell him he can get his own sports car.
Once she gets the hang of it, relaxing more into her seat and not gripping the steering wheel like her life depends on it, I decide to test her a little.
I place my hand on her thigh, slowly making circles at first. When I apply more firm pressure and guide my hand to the inside of her thighs, Jessica’s breath hitches in her throat, and her voice is all husky.
“Luke, don’t.” She’s keeping her eyes on the road, but it’s clear that my touch is affecting her.
“Scared you’re not going to be able to handle it, princess?” I tease her, and she swallows.
That sparks her fire, and her chin lifts slightly.
