“Oh my god, sorry, sorry. Um, that as a really bad attempt at flirting.’

“Flirting? My Rah-bee, it is a good thing we are mates, because the strange dance your face made would not have enticed me to explore body pleasures with you in case you had a strange malady.”

Sahm snorted. “Try fluttering your eyelashes next time instead of whatever you did,” she suggested, then turning to me added, “So you guys are mates, huh? I used to like to read books about fated mates, but they were all whairwulvz.”

I nodded at her slowly, not certain what sort of beings she spoke of, but if they had mates, they must be similar, I decided.

“Congratulations,” she said, a huge smile lighting up her face.

I finished fastening myself in and it was a good thing as Rah-bee said, “You mean like this?” and tapped my arm to get me to look at him. Now he was blinking his eyes in a manner that made it look as if he had something uncomfortable in both eyes.

Sahm and Fhrehd began to laugh. Bill stared wide-eyed, staring as if rendered speechless.

“Dude, just stop,” Fhrehd gasped.”I’m sorry, Gree-Gree, but you seem to have gotten a rather lame at flirting mate.”

“He is not lame. He walks slower than I, but it is because his legs are very short.”

For some reason, this caused all of the hoomuns to howl with laughter. My clan mates and I exchanged puzzled glances and I shrugged. Hooomuns liked to laugh at the oddest things, it seemed.

The Sky Gods all filed in, taking up spaces on the remaining two bench seats, and the door closed.

“We will be at your home caves shortly. We will land as close as we can to your mountain and walk the short distance for the rest of the way.” the Sky God who’d been our guide said.

“We will follow after unloading the cargo onto a grav sled,” another of them replied. “We have the kohordunitz.”

“Excellent,” came the reply as his fingers flew over the lit symbols before him.

“Isn’t this exciting?” Rimbet asked. “Chief Grishk will be well pleased with us. We made the trip much quicker as we were granted use of the portal, and got to fly in their grak to their star home.”

“Their ship,” I reminded him.”

“That’s right,” Rah-bee agreed. “This is a small ship and we flew to a much bigger one that we landed inside.”

“That was most unsettling,” Hroash replied. “I do not care to do do so again. I will be grateful for my boots to touch the snow once more.”

Rimbet grunted. “I am with you there, but Grishk will be most pleased that we are being granted our own portal. This will open up the possibility of more trade for us. Once we are shown how to use them to open the correct door, we will be able to bring back fish from the sea while it is still fresh, as it will take no time at all.”

This was true. Having a portal to connect us to other two communities would open many possible opportunities for us. The ability to send males through to bring back bags of fish was very appealing, as it would reduce the number of times each of us hunters had to go out in order for all to have enough to eat. The fish would also add variety which now my mouth was watering over.

“Great! I’m sure the Gray-Greens can tell Chief Grishk all about how they gifted us tranzlaytohrs and how they’re going to build us all a portal, but ou’ll have to excuse me and Gree-Gree until tomorrow if he wants to talk to us about it.”

Sahm made a whistling noise. “I see, you two are off to,” she stopped speaking, making a circle with the fingers of one hand and poking a finger from her other hand in and out of it in what I realized was a crude approximation of a cock going into a hole.

Rah-bee’s skin flushed once more. “Geehz, Sahm, be crude, why don’t you?”

She simply laughed in response. “It’s true though, isn’t it?”

“Yes, but I was trying to be polite.”

“If you’re polite when you’re fucking, you’re doing it wrong,” Rimbet informed him, and he turned even redder.

“I will show my love with much passion while I fuck you, my Rah-bee. You do not have to be polite. I would love to hear your sounds of enjoyment as I claim you.”

“Oh, Gawd!”He covered his face with his hands as the other hoomuns laughed once more.
