The waiter opened and poured her wine for her. She took a sip. “Oh, this is lovely,” she gushed. “You certainly know your wines, darling,” she said to Ishmael.
He didn’t reply, instead, he continued to peruse the menu.”
“The peri peri,” Raoul repeated, taking his order pad out. He glanced over at Ishmael. “And you, Mr Lux?”
“I’ll have the seaweed salad, followed by the firecracker shrimp. I’d like that with sesame sticky rice and a side of stir fried vegetables.”
Raoul wrote it down before giving a small bow as he took his leave.
“Do you want to go clubbing after we eat?” Jessica asked him. “We could go to your club. I’ve never been there before.”
Because there was no reason to offer you an exclusive membership, which you never applied for anyway. Thank fuck for that.
She continued, oblivious to his disdain. “Or we could go somewhere else, party while you scope out the old competition,” she jibed.
“I’m sorry. I have to be up early tomorrow morning for a meeting.”
“Oh. Well, next time, then.” Her phone pinged and she picked it up. She let out a squeal. “Oh look, we’re going viral!”
He gave her the first genuine smile of the evening. “That is excellent news.”Just not for the reasons you think.
She picked up her wine glass, still holding her phone. “Quick, let’s toast!”
He humphed indulgently, still smiling. Ishmael lifted his glass and touched it to hers, holding it as she snapped the picture she wanted. “To the internet and our fans,” he said.
“Yes!” She giggled. “They so wish they were us!” She took a sip of her wine before placing her glass back down in order to post her newest picture.
“Oh em gee!” she breathed loudly, “Look, we’re already getting hearts for that. Hahaha, Hashtag Ishicca is going to trend. We are so going to be the hottest couple of the season!”
Like hell, we will.
“Really?” he said aloud, craning to look at her phone. She was looking at Instagram. He picked up his phone. “I should share it, too.”
“Aww, so sweet,” she cooed.
He texted the post link to Jamal, his tech expert. That post would disappear completely before the end of the night. He smiled. That hashtag was not going anywhere. Her other post and the photos the pap took would suffice for his purposes.
