“Nah. I ate earlier. It’s nearly lunchtime, to be honest. Going on eleven o’clock. Boss is meeting you for lunch at Deluxious at one thirty. I’ll take you down at a quarter past.”

Kris looked down at what he was wearing. “Can I go like this?” he asked, waving a hand at the polo shirt and chinos he’d put on after finding them laid out for him, a note with his name written on it placed on top. They’d appeared as if by magic while he was in the shower. He supposed Bob had placed them on the dresser for him.

“Shirt with a collar, yeah, it’s fine for lunch,” Bob reassured him. “Just put on some shoes and you’ll be ready to go.”

“Okay. Um, what else am I supposed to do today?”

“Just spend time here before and after lunch, until he returns home. You are allowed this room and the bedroom, and bathroom. And the cloakroom, of course.”

“Cloakroom?”

“The little room with the toilet and sink, on the other end of the kitchen,” Bob replied, pointing. “It’s got a door to a storage area in there, too, but you’re not allowed in there. Not yet, anyway.”

“Oh, okay.” Kris didn’t press the issue. Instead, he wondered what he was going to do all day. He sighed.

Bob tilted his head, studying him. “You like animated films?”

“Huh? Uh, yeah, I guess? Good ones. I like the Pixar ones and most of the ones from Disney. Oh, and Studio Ghibli- you know, Totoro and all those.”

“Then when you get back from lunch, there’s a film I’ll put on for you. Don’t overeat, because I’ll make you popcorn and everything.”

Kris blinked. “Sure, okay.” Why not?
