“Hello?!” Medea growled. “Can we get back to the fact that this bastard took another Kumiho?”

“How did he get to her?” I countered. “I assumed the Kumihos would be on guard. Why was one out roaming the streets?”

Medea grimaced and pulled out her phone. “I don't know but I'm about to find out.”

As she made her call, I returned to our conversation. “We need to know what this man's capable of. He has proven to have Air and Water magic. Did you see him use anything else?”

“Earth, Your Majesty,” one of the Demons said. “He bound the Kumiho with roots. She fell, knocked her head on the ground, and passed out.”

“Earth, Air, and Water,” I said. “I assume he has Fire too then—all the beags. And he'll know who we are once he catches sight of us.”

“So, we don't let him see us,” Raza said. “That's simple enough.”

“But if he has a power similar to aura-seeing, he'll be able to see our auras even when we're invisible,” Tiernan said.

“Will that be enough for his magic to learn about us?” Kill asked.

“I don't know,” Tiernan said. “It hasn't happened often.”

“Do you at least know why he'd take more than one pearl?” Star asked.

“I'm assuming it magnifies the power.”

“It must or he wouldn't have bothered with a third,” Desmond said in his low rumble.

Hunter Mi-cha shivered and grinned at Hunter Yun-hee.

“Is there something amusing about that?” Desmond asked them.

“No. Sorry,” Mi-cha said, her dark stare gliding over Desmond's thick chest. “We can't help it. Birds love puppies.”

Desmond's jaw dropped as the rest of us went quiet.

Then Killian burst into laughter.

“Fuck you, Twilight,” Desmond growled.

“Fuck you back,puppy!” Killian hooted.

“Hey!” I stood up and slapped my hand down on the table just as Medea finished her call. “This is not the time for that bullshit!” I glared at the female hunters. “You're flirting with one of our guards? Seriously? Where's that decorum you showed earlier? If not that, where is your hunter training?”

The women blushed to their roots and looked down into their laps.

“And you two.” I looked from Killian to Desmond. “This isn't the time for your bullshit. Get it together! I have enough kids to deal with. Understand?!”

“Yes, Your Majesty,” Desmond said.

“Yeah, all right, babe,” Killian said. “As if I couldn't laugh at that. It was a knee-jerk reaction.”

Medea lifted a brow at me, then nodded in approval.

“What did you find out, Medea?”

“Ha-eun said Sang-hee left her home without telling anyone. They think she just went into the garden to find her cat. The window was open, and when they investigated, they found Sang-hee's kitty sleeping in the bushes. The cat wouldn't wake easily and they believe it was drugged. There was the scent of anchovy on it.”

“He got to her through a cat?” I blinked. “Fuck. That's so simple it's brilliant.”

“I hope you told them to keep their pets indoors,” Tiernan said.
