“What?!”

“I remember it now. Someone came to me when I was in the dungeon. They enchanted me and commanded me to kill you. I meant to stab you, Cyn. It wasn't an accident. I was going to kill you while you slept, but you woke up and avoided the strike. Still, I completed the command, so the spell faded.”

“Who was it?” Cyn snarled. “Who enchanted you?”

“I don't know. A light blinded me. But I think the voice was male.”

“You think?”

“It's hard to tell. It was so powerful. Resonant.” I bit my lip. “I think your mating magic destroyed the remnants of the spell and allowed me to remember.”

Cyn slumped, his jaw falling open. “That would make sense. Dragon mating magic is the most powerful magic on Serai. It even claimed our God.”

“And the enchantment had to fight it.” I paused, then added, “And me. It had to fight what I feel for you.”

“What do you feel for me?” Cyn whispered.

“You didn't feel it when we mated?”

“I want to hear you say it.”

Feeling as if my entire life, every joy and pain and adventure, had only one purpose—to lead me to him, I said the words I knew I'd been fated to say, “I love you, Cyn.”

The most brilliant, beautiful smile I'd ever seen spread across Cyn's face before he hauled me into an embrace. “I love you too, Ru. I think I always have. Even before we met, I loved you. I've been waiting for you.” Then he groaned. “Oh, fuck, it's rising again.”

“Your cock?” I leaned back to see that, sure enough, his dick was hard.

“Yes, but no. The mating urge has returned.”

“It's not over?”

“Far from it. The urge will ebb and flow for several days. And I will need to be with you constantly, so I may claim you with every rise of magic.”

“Days?!”

Cyn grinned as he lowered me to the bed. “As if we have something better to do?”

I grinned back. “I suppose not.”

Then he was kissing me and with the first touch of his lips, the magic took us.

Chapter Twenty-Two

“Cyn?” I said breathlessly as I lay snuggled up against him.

We had just finished our third round of sex, complete with mating essence and mind-blowing orgasms. I was tired but not exhausted. Cyn did most of the work, as if he knew he had to go easy on me since I wasn't a Dragon. And, honestly, I didn't mind being tired. I was as swept up in the mating as he was.

But something kept barging in on my bliss.

“What is it, Mate?” Cyn had been calling me that more and more.

Not that I was complaining. I was using the title on him too. It felt natural, and it enhanced my happiness.

“I think it was Juri,” I said.

“You think what was Juri?”

“The person who enchanted me.”
