“His hair.” I pulled out a short leather strip and handed it to the King. “You need to tie it back so it doesn't hang out of the hood. I should have thought of that before we left the castle.”
The King pushed back his hood and tied back his hair. After he had the hood back in place, he held out his hands to present himself for my inspection.
I nodded. “Better. Just try to keep your head lowered and hunch.”
“Hunch?”
“It's when you bend your shoulders a little.” Kimu hunched to give Cyn an example.
“He knows what it means, Kimu. He's asking why.”
“Oh. Sorry.” He straightened.
To the King, I said, “Your size will get you noticed.”
“Not too many Dragons in the Forgotten,” Kimu said. “Although they might think he's a Ricarri.”
“He's not that big.”
“Excuse me,” the King said indignantly.
“Ricarri are huge. You're big, but not gigantic.”
“They're not gigantic.”
I lifted my brows.
“All right, they're giant-ish, but they're still not as powerful as a Dragon.”
Kimu, looking back and forth between us, chuckled. “You two are adorable.”
The King and I scowled at him.
“All right. All right.” He held up his hands in surrender. “I guess I'm just seeing things.” He lifted a brow and added, “Like that kiss we all witnessed last night.”
“You're not seeing things,” Cyn said. “We are in a relationship. But do not call us adorable again. We are more than that.”
Kimu gaped from the King to me. “You're . . . holy fuck! You're in arelationship? I thought you were just fucking. Hold on, it's been like two days.”
“Today makes three,” Cyn said.
Kimu made an amazed sound. “Three days and you're in a relationship? So you're boyfriends?” He looked at me. “Your boyfriend is the fucking Dragon King?”
“Yes,” Cyn said.
I widened my eyes at him.
“We discussed this.” Cyn frowned.
“Yes, but I . . . I guess I didn't expect you to go around announcing it. Or labeling it. Last we spoke, we were lovers.”
“I think we've advanced. And why wouldn't I speak of it?”
“I don't know.”
“I'm proud to be with you.”
“You are?” I grinned, and I knew it was goofy, but I didn't care. “Thanks.”
