“It's just curvou,” Thal huffed. “It's not as if I'd poison him. Come now, Tae, you refused to go out with us, at least stay in with us and have a drink.”
“I can handle fae liquor now, right?” I asked Tae.
Tae frowned. “Yes, but, you don't have to drink that, Shane.”
“It's just a drink, and I like experiencing new flavors.” I held it up to him. “Do you want to try it first and make sure it's safe?” I grinned at him.
“Actually,”—he slid a suspicious look Thal's way—“I do.”
“I would especially never poison you, Tae,” Thal said softly. “You know that.”
Taeven opened the flask, sniffed it, then lifted his brows in surprise.
“As if you expected it to be the cheap stuff,” Thal grumbled.
Tae chuckled, then took a swig. With a sigh of delight, he handed me the flask. “Just sip it, Shane.”
I took a sip.
Chapter Thirty-Four
I woke up naked and face-down on a rug. A heavy arm laid across my back and warm breath brushed my ear. I lifted my head, brain foggy, and looked around as I tried to remember how I'd gotten there. Then I heard the battle shriek of the Falcon Lord.
“What the fuck?!” Taeven shouted.
And if he was shouting, he couldn't be the man lying beside me. Heart racing, I looked over to see Thalsar blinking awake, a confused frown on his face.
“By the Goddess! Tone it down, Tae,” Thalsar growled then rolled onto his back, showcasing his nudity.
“Holy shit,” I whispered and jumped to my feet.
“How dare you?!” Taeven roared and yanked Thalsar to his feet. “You fucking snake!” He punched the General in the face, and Thal stumbled backward, knocking into a chair as he fell to the floor.
“What is the ruckus about?” The Princess drawled as she came gliding out of Tae's bedroom . . . in his robe.
I gaped at her, then at Tae.
“What the fuck, Tae?” Thal snapped as he got to his feet and swiped blood away from his face.
“Don't you dare fucking look at me like that,” Tae snarled at me, ignoring Thalsar completely. His face settled into that primal expression he wore to war. “I didn't fuck her. She passed out in my bed.”
“Naked?” I asked.
“As if you've room to talk.” He waved a hand at me.
“I wouldn't have fucked him!” I screeched.
“Wouldn't?” Taeven narrowed his eyes at me. “Meaning that you admit to fucking him?”
“No, meaning that I can't remember!”
“Oh, I'm wounded, Shane,” Thal said dramatically.
“We couldn't have,” I whispered in horror. “There's no way.”
“You're pleading memory loss?” Tae growled at me. “Seriously?”
“There had to be something in that drink!” I shouted.
