“Yes. Maybe after we get back from Varalorre, depending on what's going on with the war.”
“All right.” That good mood came rushing back.
“Is that all you're taking?” He lifted his brows at my boots and belts.
“Well, you said not to worry about the clothes and there's nothing else I need. I assume they'll have soap and towels in Varalorre?”
“Yes, they have soap. They have shampoo and conditioner too.” He chuckled and reached into my trunk to brush a finger over the little bottles I'd taken from the hotel. “Are you ready to leave?”
“Ready when you are.”
Taeven stood and held a hand down to me. I took it, and he pulled me to my feet.
Pressing in close, he stroked my cheek and murmured, “There's a flight harness on the bed. Put it on.”
“That sounded kinky, Falcon Lord.”
“It will be kinky when I use it as a handhold to fuck you later.”
I shuddered so violently at his words, that he had to steady me.
“Oh, I like that response,” he whispered in my ear before kissing my throat. His hands slid down to knead my ass, then spread it as if he were about to fuck me. “I can't wait to see you in nothing but those leather straps.”
“I think maybe we should do that now,” I suggested breathlessly.
Taeven pulled away from me, grinning. “We don't have the time.”
“You just deliberately aroused me, knowing that you weren't going to have sex with me!” I accused him.
“Yes, I did.” He grinned, utterly unrepentant.
“You are a cruel man, Falcon Lord,” I declared, but I did so smiling. “I'm going to be hard the entire flight to Varalorre.”
“Hopefully, the entire flight to Wynvar.”
“Wynvar?”
“That's the royal city of the Falcon Kingdom.”
“How far is it?”
“By air, it's still many hours of travel. We'll be crossing the width of Stalana, going slightly at an angle to take us on a direct path to Wynvar, but the Falcon Kingdom is only two kingdoms away from the northern tip of Varalorre.”
“So we'll be crossing nearly the entire continent.”
“Yes. We'll stop for lunch either in Coyote of Fox to rest our wings. Those kingdoms are at the halfway point for us. But I plan on having dinner in the Falcon Kingdom.”
“Then we'd best be off.” I frowned.
“What is it now?”
“I think I'd better pee first.”
Taeven laughed uproariously.
Chapter Twenty-Four
Tae was right; the flight was long. Although, once we crossed through the magical mists that protected Varalorre, the sights below my dangling feet were enough to keep me from getting bored. Even from that height, the landscape of Varalorre was amazing—the colors brighter and richer than those in Stalana, the architecture luxurious and fascinating, and the scents pure. Above me, Taeven bent his head often to check on me as he flew. I grinned up at him and gave him a thumb's up every time. He'd told me to let him know if I needed to take a break, either to stretch or pee. But I made it to the village of Frehan in the Coyote Kingdom without issue.
