Verin made a savage sound and reared up, pushing me forward onto my hands and knees. He got onto his knees behind me and started thrusting even more powerfully than he had before—his pelvis slapping my ass. Verin bent over me and went wild, his body bucking above mine, with one hand pressed to the mattress and the other urgently rubbing my clit. I held firm against his vicious slams as he sent me shooting back into sharp arousal.

Verin pressed his cheek to mine and whispered into my ear, “I've already taken you, Spellsinger, and, as I've said before, I will never let you go. I just wanted to hear you say that you're mine.”

“Then you're mine as well,” I concluded triumphantly. “To keep forever.”

“I have been yours since the first moment our eyes met,” he confessed.

Then the Blue Dragon lifted his head and groaned his way through his release, clenching his teeth to keep from roaring.

Chapter Thirty-Seven

I dreamed of galaxies and fire and love that knew no limits. When I woke, I was trembling, breathless, and covered in a light sheen of sweat. Verin slept peacefully beside me, his profile shadowed by the light seeping through the curtains. My chest constricted when I saw him, aching with a longing that made no sense. Verin was right there and he was mine. What did I have to long for?

I'd never experienced love like this before—love that yearned for more and more no matter how much of it you had. With the others, it had been different. Love grew, of course, but it did so with a sense of security. I remember feeling safe in their affections and profoundly satisfied. With Verin, my love had grown into this clawing need that was only satisfied when we were touching.

I slipped out of bed, resisting the urge to touch him, and went into the bathroom. I needed to rinse off and wake up. As I stood under the spray, I wondered if I'd ever truly loved before. Was this the way love was supposed to be? And if so, how did I feel about it? Honestly, I didn't relish spending the rest of my life needing Verin this badly. But maybe this was just the beginning of real love. It had only been a few days. Plus, our relationship wasn't exactly stable yet. Perhaps that had something to do with it.

Or maybe you're just fucking enchanted, you moron,RS snapped.

I made a small, startled cry and steadied myself against the tiled wall.RS?

Yeah, bitch, I'm back. I don't know what you were dreaming about, but while you were sleeping, I finally slipped free of that magical muzzle you put on me. Thanks so much for that, by the way.

You can hardly blame Elaria,Kyanite inserted. You are the most odious entity I've ever encountered.

Don't front, Jewel-Boy. I know you missed me,RS said smugly.

“I forgot about you,” I whispered in horror. “I'm so sorry, RS. At first, I was angry but then...”

Then you got dickmatized?RS suggested.

Where do you even hear such words?Kyanite asked in horror.

I'm a very worldly spell.

Cerberus,Kyanite concluded in a disapproving tone.

I grimaced. As much as I didn't appreciate her wording, RS was right. I'd become completely wrapped up in Verin. “In my defense, someone's been trying to kill me. Possibly someone I love.”

Yeah, I know. I was muzzled, not mute,RS huffed. And I don't believe for one second that Vivian is behind this.

I didn't want to believe it either but after that glimpse we had of the witch, I can't deny that there is no other possibility,Kyanite said grimly.

That glimpse was blurry at best,RS scoffed. There has got to be another blonde bitch—excuse me, blonde witch—who has it out for you. And please note here how I'm not continuing to yell at you for blocking me out, despite the fact that it was cold, hateful, and just plain rude.

“I'm sorry, RS.”

Yeah, okay. Forgiven.

Run for cover! The world is about to end! RS has just been gracious!Kyanite shouted.

Ha-ha,RS huffed.

“Would you mind not shouting in my mind first thing in the morning, Ky?” I grumbled as I got out of the shower.

It's not morning, it's afternoon,Kyanite informed me.But I will remember to moderate my volume when you wake, my love.

“Thank you.” I rolled my eyes. “And to answer your earlier question, RS, no, I can't think of another blonde witch I know, much less one who has a reason to kill me.”
