“What?” Cerberus whined. “Why not?”

“Your dick and your dick attitude are too many dicks for me.” Freya sniffed disdainfully.

“You mean, unlike my bestie, you can only handle one at a time?” Cerberus asked with a wicked grin. “Or is it simply that my dick is so massive, you can barely handle it on its own?”

“How did you manage to reference your best friend's sex life, insult me, and brag about your cock, all in the same breath?” Freya asked.

“I was only teasing,” Cerberus insisted as he bent down to nuzzle Freya's cleavage. “Come on, don't be mad, babe.”

“A little to the left,” Freya said imperiously.

Cerberus made a happy growl and started kissing his way over the expanse of Freya's breast. One of Freya's hands went to the back of Cer's head while the other lifted her drink to her lips. She winked at Sara, who was still watching them like a pop-up theater performance. Sara shoved more chips into her mouth.

“This is my life,” I said to Verin. “And this is your last chance to run from it.”

“I'm not going anywhere,” Verin declared determinedly. “Even if your best friend is a dick.”

“I heard that!” Cerberus lifted his face to announce.

Freya grabbed Cer's head and shoved his face back into her cleavage.

“Since you're intent on staying, how about a beer?” Gage held a bottle out to the Blue Dragon.

Verin accepted it with a grin and we toasted to our new alliance. Freya even let Cerberus up for long enough to join in the toast. Then my guys and I sat down and started to discuss how Verin would fit into our lives. As the men talked about schedules and responsibilities, I looked around the table and smiled in amazement. I had started the day determined to move past my sorrow and I had but in the most unexpected way. Nothing was set in stone yet, but was anything ever guaranteed in love? That's part of the excitement, isn't it? The unknown. The unexpected. And even with the possibility of tragedy, I only wanted more. I wanted all of the Blue Dragon.

And I wouldn't stop until I got it.
