Iwas totally heartbroken, and that just made me angry. It broke my heart that my own brother, my twin brother, was turning out to be a genuine criminal. I’d always known Lucas was high-spirited and naughty, but it was crushing to discover that the man didn’t have a scruple in his body. And I was furious that he would do this to me, to the family. Not just that he would use our property for something so dangerous and illegal, but that he would shatter whatever hope we had that he was a good person after all.
“I should call Dad right now and tell him what’s going on,” I panted, picking at the collar of my robe and fanning it to get some cool air against my body. I was definitely entering another heat wave, and I was entering the most intense part of heat.
“No!” Lucas snapped his head back to me from where he’d been searching for Fenn. “You can’t tell them. They never have to know. This is just a one-time thing. Okay, a three- or four-time thing.”
My stomach felt sick with the lies Lucas was spewing. Or maybe that was my womb demanding to be filled with Saint’s seed.
“We need to get you two back up to the house,” Saint said in a grave voice. He was also searching the area for Fenn. “You’re both going to be in distress soon if we don’t.”
Before I had a chance to panic about Fenn’s absence, he appeared from around the edge of the garage.
“Fenny!” Lucas shouted, racing toward him and stripping off the robe he wore as he did. “Oh, God, I need you! Fill me up, big boy.”
He launched himself into Fenn’s arms and started to hump him.
I was so embarrassed.
Saint took my hand and led me up away from the dock at a quick clip. “Where have you been?” he asked, like he was annoyed with his brother for leaving him alone with two omegas in heat. I sensed the seriousness in his question despite what he was pretending.
Fenn sighed like he, too, was annoyed. “You’re in luck,” he told Lucas in answer as we all headed back to the house. “I was about three seconds from getting the fuck out of here. I can’t go to jail for gun-running. I went to get my car out of the garage, but conscience took over. I’m an ESA. I can’t abandon an omega in heat.”
It was a brilliant lie, actually. If I had to guess, I would bet that Fenn had called his friends at the BSI to update them on the situation. It made me feel a teensy bit more secure to know that the police were already involved and aware of what was going on, even if none of us could let on about it.
“Fuck right, you can’t leave me during heat,” Lucas said, panting and growling as we reached the back porch and entered the house. “I can’t make it through with that Heat Lightningsystem alone now that I’ve had that magic cock of yours up my channel.”
My face flared hot from more than just the heat wave. Lucas was an utter disgrace. I didn’t know how I was supposed to deal with him or even look at him now.
Fenn shuffled Lucas out of his arms, turned him toward the stairs, and smacked his backside. “You go upstairs and get ready,” he ordered. “I’m just going to grab a few more water bottles and some snacks.”
“Yes, Daddy,” Lucas purred, then scurried off across the den, splattering slick as he went.
We all pretended that we were heading toward the stairs or the kitchen, until Lucas was out of sight. Then Saint grabbed Fenn’s arm and said, “What’s the story?”
“My contact at the department isn’t at all surprised about the guns,” Fenn said without hesitation, keeping his voice low. “They’re still scrambling to put together a task force before midnight. An advance unit is already on the way, but they’ll keep out of sight unless they absolutely have to act.”
“The cops are coming here?” I gasped, clutching a hand to my stomach. I’d already guessed that maybe one or two policemen would show up to arrest some people, but it sounded like it was turning into a huge ordeal now. My family’s beach house was about to turn into a crime scene, I just knew it.
“They know what they’re doing,” Fennick reassured me. He glanced to Saint and added, “We might have another lucky break coming our way, too. Apparently, there’s a storm rolling in. It’s supposed to hit just before midnight. Are you going to be okay?”
Relief and curiosity hit me at the same time. Combined with my fast-increasing heat need, it made it hard for me to think. Why wouldn’t Saint be okay in a storm?
“So there’s a chance the Dumfries gang won’t show up at midnight?” Saint asked, shifting nervously. I had the impression he was avoiding his brother’s question.
“It depends on what kind of boat they have and if it can withstand the storm,” Fenn said. “The guys at the department are crossing all their fingers and toes that this delay will give them more time to prepare. They’re going to need our help with things one way or another.”
I let out a whimper, but it had way more to do with the heat that felt like it was swallowing me and the slick that was leaking down my thighs. My wave was reaching its pitch, and I had two strong, virile alphas close to rut standing right there with me. Maybe it wasn’t so bad to be fucked by two alphas at the same time if the heat wave was really bad?
“Okay, that’s the end of the discussion,” Saint said in a gruff voice. “Go.”
I wasn’t sure what he was ordering his brother to do, but I didn’t really care. Fenn strode quickly off toward the stairs, almost sprinting, and I turned to Saint, hugging myself tightly so I wouldn’t fly at him like Lucas had done with Fenn.
“This one’s going to be big,” I said in a thick voice.
“It’s okay, baby, I’ve got you,” Saint said, sweeping me clean off my feet and carrying me toward the stairs.
“I like it when you call me baby,” I said, clinging to him as he carried me like a child. In his massive arms I felt…well, not like a child. Not at all, considering how over-the-top horny my heat had made me. There was nothing childish about the mating urge that had me half crazy. But I did feel diminished and overpowered in the best possible way.
