“To talk to Coach,” he said. “I don’t like the idea of her being without us. Conrad’s right, he can’t protect her if he’s on the ice the whole time.”

“What did Coach say?”

“He agreed. After the game the other night, he thinks it would be best if she prepares ahead of time.”

We all let out a collective sigh of relief.

“Good,” Kieran muttered. “Because I had every intention of booking a ticket and going anyway.”

“So, what’s the plan here?” Lennon asked. There was an edge to his voice, but it had softened since our talk.

I turned to Cade. “We wait for our omega to be on board, then we give her everything we have. Prove we’re worthy until then. The moment she’s ready, so are we.”

“Are you going to be able to handle that?” Kieran asked Lennon.

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Just like that, his delta was rising for a fight.

“Don’t act like you weren’t notoriously anti-omega.”

“I’m working on it,” Lennon muttered.

“Get on board,” Wilder said firmly.

Every one of us was ready to give this a shot. Even Lennon, if he got out of his own way.

We just had one giant obstacle in our way.

Her exes.

“What are you guys talking about?” Conrad’s voice echoed from behind us.

Make that two obstacles.

The guys had only been off for a couple of days, and they were already losing their minds.

I, on the other hand, was loving it.

There was always someone in the house now that was more than willing to watch a movie or hang out.

I had yet to go to the arena alone. There was always a sexy hockey player tagging along with me. Not all of them helped, but I loved the company.

Wilder followed the most. The once-shy beta was growing more comfortable with me every day, and I felt the same way.

Coach had already talked to me about not wanting to push too soon and have me go to the away game that the Narwhals were notorious for crashing. It was a ploy to throw opponents off and stir up attention from their fans, but without the guys there, he didn’t want to risk me.

I was honestly grateful. I thought the same thing and was trying to put on a brave face. They wouldn’t have hurt me, but they very much would have made a scene. Milo had never barkedat me, but that might be the first time, and I wasn’t going to risk them barking me into a car.

The last thing I wanted was to seem like a needy omega who depended on alphas, but I was very much starting to rely on the Wardens.

I didn’t want to seem like I depended on them too much, even though I was starting to.

I’d gotten my midday meal and practice knocked out of the way, but I found myself back in the kitchen again at home. Everyone else seemed to have something to do, and I was trying really hard not to be needy and go curl up next to them.
