“Good shout. So, where’s Oliver tonight?” I see no sign of him but I’ll be on edge until I’m sure he’s not lurking around the corner.

“Oh, don’t worry, he’s gone home to visit Mom this weekend. So, what do you think of the new place? Do you want a tour?”

“Sure.”

“Living room, kitchen,” I follow her down the hall as she points to doors along the way. The place is nice, clean and spacious. I have no doubt that Hayley would be loving it here. “Bathroom, Oliver’s bedroom, linen closet, laundry, and my room.”

“Well, can I see it?”

“If you want, but I haven’t had a chance to fully unpack yet. This week has been crazy busy.”

I open the door a crack and pop my head in. I laugh at the state of it, as messy as always. “It’s bigger than your old dorm at least.”

“I’m very lucky, and very grateful. It’s so much better here than on campus. A little further away but…”

“You’re worth the trip.” I lean down and press a quick kiss to her lips. She has no idea the lengths I’d travel just to get to her. “So, what’s the plan for tonight?”

I don’t know how, but I’ve never felt more comfortable in my life. Tonight, with anyone else, would have been tense and awkward. Essentially, we were on a first date. Of course, I didn’t want to label it as that in case it freaked Hayley out.

“I was thinking maybe a classic.”

“Back to the future?”

“Even better, Jaws. One, two, and three, baby.”

“My god. How is that possibly better than Back to the Future? They’re not even on the same level.”

“I knew you were going to say that.”

“And yet, you chose Jaws anyway.”

“Isn’t it always ladies' choice on a first date?”

Hmm. I reach out and grab her hips, dragging her closer. My lips seal over hers, my tongue immediately seeking entrance. I moan as she grants it.

A sliver of guilt tries to take hold of the moment, but I won’t let it.

I can only imagine what she’s thinking, that we’re just fooling around. Yeah, okay, we might be starting off that way, but when she’s ready, we’ll be more than that.

I didn’t kiss her on a whim. I knew the implications, and I did it with full intentions of following through.

I’m too far gone now to start that shit.

Frankly, I don’t care that she’s Kyle’s sister. I don’t care that I’ve known her since first grade. If anything, our history only strengthens my feelings for her.

I know who Hayley is. I trust her more than I do myself.

I want this. I want her. She just doesn’t know how much yet.

Knock, knock, knock.

“And that’ll be the pizza guy.”

“I’ll be sure to thank him for his brilliant timing.”

Her laugh follows me to the door. I check the peephole first to make sure. I couldn’t imagine what I’d say if I opened the door and found Kyle on the other side.
