This night feels never-ending.
I only agreed to this double date because Reece said that he would pay. Who am I to turn down a free meal?
Besides, Daphne was hot as fuck. It also didn’t hurt that I’d heard that she was an easy lay. Which was definitely something to pique my interest. I’ve been going through such a dry spell recently.
It just seems like there are no girls left. Preston was a big campus, but there are only so many girls that you can fuck before they all start to blur together.
Maybe it’s not the girls. Maybe there’s just something wrong with me. As far as I know, the rest of the guys never complain about the lack of girls. Quite the opposite, in fact.
As it turns out, Daphne is another nothing to write home about. She has the personality of a blank sheet of paper and the memory of a goldfish. I could do nothing all night but glare daggers at Reece while praying that an anvil dropped on my head.
As I heard the soft knocking, whether it be the wind or a visitor, I lunged up from my seat to answer it.
I enter the foyer with a brief glance at the stairs. Would it be too rude to just sneak away? Probably. Did I care? Less and less by the second.
Swinging the door open reveals that the noise I heard was indeed a visitor. One that I’m surprisingly glad to see. Immediately, I smile. “Hayley?”
Upon closer inspection, my heart sinks, and my anger spikes. There’s a smudge of dark make-up under her eyes that tells me she’s been crying, she’s soaking wet and her usual happy-go-lucky demeanor is nowhere to be found.
“Is my brother here?”
“Sorry Hales, he’s out with the guys.” My mind is racing with questions; like what the fuck happened?
“Think he’ll be back tonight?”
“He’s on a date, so there’s a good chance he won’t be. Is everything okay? Here, come in.”
Pulling the door wider, she steps in, her clothes dripping onto the tiles beneath our feet.
“God, you must be freezing. I’ll get you some fresh clothes.” I turn to head up the stairs when the smooth skin of Hayley’s hand reaches out to stop me.
“You don’t need to. If it’s okay with you, I’m just gonna crash in Kyle’s room.”
“Sure.”
She begins up the stairs. I don’t know if I follow because of my concern for her, my attraction for her, or my reluctance to return back to my ‘date’.
She pauses in the hall and pushes open Kyle’s door. I’m certain that we both cringe at the same time.
Oh god. I can’t very well let her sleep in that pit, can I?
The answer is a very clear and persistent no.
Kyle’s not the cleanest person, and my concern only rises at the thought of all the women that’s been in his bed. “Uh, how about you take my room? It’s much cleaner than Kyle’s - no risk of you catching an STD from the sheets.”
I shudder to think…
She turns to me and lets out a small giggle. The smile never drops from her face as we lock eyes.
“What happened tonight?” I open the door to my bedroom next door and lead her inside. She plops herself down on the bed as I begin collecting a few of my things.
“Well, you’ll be happy to know that you were all right about Nicky. He’s a lying, cheating, dirtbag.”
“What’d he do?”
“I found him about four inches deep into Meghan.”
My mind doesn’t want to go there. I want to be respectful and concentrate on the cheating part - which I’ll definitely be coming back to. But I can’t help myself.
