“I mean, it’s a free country...”
I didn’t have a problem with Tillie coming along. I mean, we weren’t close, but she was nice enough. The fact that my somewhat annoying brother will also be tagging along is the part of the situation that is problematic.
Tillie, like me, is a frat brother’s sister. And while she’s always around, she seems completely uninterested in any of the boys in the house. Of course, the boys being boys all see her as a challenge.
“Settled!”
“Why don’t we make it a group thing?” Corbin jumps into the conversation with a bang. For a second, I forgot he was even here.
“I wouldn’t mind going,” Lucas, who is suddenly next to me, winks in my direction.
Well... that’s a new development. What the fuck?
Maybe he had something caught in his eye.

All fucking night I’d been distracted over the fact that I was so far away from Hayley. Not to mention her proximity to Lucas was just about torture. What the fuck is he up to?
After the movie, Kyle and Lucas suggest going out for a bite to eat. I watch closely as Hayley politely declines. Only minutes later, a text from her pops up on my phone.
Meet me at mine in twenty. - Hayley
Oh hell yes. My night quickly takes a turn for the better. Nothing up until now matters but baby girl is coming home with me.
I follow the group back to the cars, trying my hardest to avoid any questions about the movie. The conversation was pretty general, but considering I didn’t see a thing from the movie, I’d hate to arouse any suspicion.
I reach my car and make a pathetic excuse about a paper that’s - not - due on Monday. They barely get a chance to say goodbye before I’m climbing in and speeding off in Hayley’s direction.
As soon as I step through the door of Hayley’s apartment, she’s on me. Literally. She jumps into my arms and winds her legs around my waist. Her lips are on mine as I kick the door shut.
She jumps back down a moment later, going as quick as she came. Which in my mind is a good thing, a relief. I think she thinks tonight will be the night. It’s going to be my unfortunate duty to tell her otherwise.
I freeze when I look up to find Oliver standing in the kitchen.
Fuck.
I look over to Hayley to see her reaction, but she’s surprisingly calm. Wait, did she know he was home?
“He knows…” Hayley whispers with a small, unapologetic shrug.
“Yep. Who would’ve thought, little Corbin and my baby sister?” He pats my shoulder as he strolls past. As hard as I try, I can’t get a read on Oliver. Is he upset? If he is, he doesn’t show it. He seems more indifferent than anything else.
“Hey. Where are you going?” Hayley calls out curiously.
“I have a life too, you know.” Oliver shrugs on his jacket and pauses before opening the door. With a wide grin, he gives his parting shot, “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
“So, free rein then,” Hales whispers sarcastically.
“Well, in that case…” I bend down and throw her over my shoulder. I stalk down the hall towards her room, throw open the door, and place her back down on the bed.
I crawl on top of her, my lips quickly finding hers. Her moans quickly cause the situation in my pants to worsen. God, it’s been so long since the last time I had sex. If only tonight could be the night… but I know better.
For some reason, I’ve decided that we should wait. I don’t want to go into this relationship half-heartedly, and I know that until we tell Kyle that’s exactly what we’d be doing. I hated the thought of telling him; I know his reaction probably better than anyone else. It’ll destroy him and burn everything else to the ground.
But it’s the right thing to do.
