Uhh.“Where do you think you’re going?”
“I need to go home and get ready for work.”
I wrapped her in my arms, trapping her there. I wasn’t ready to let go of her just yet. “Wow, way to make me feel cheap. If I had known that you were gonna rush off right after, I would’ve made you wait for it.”
She giggled lightly, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear and leaning into my embrace. “I’m sorry.” She pressed a kiss to my lips, “how about we go out for lunch? My treat.”
Like hell, it would be.
“You free on Tuesday?” I asked, I wasn’t about to turn down a chance to spend some time with her.
“Pick me up at the club?”
“I’ll be there.” I pressed another kiss to her lips hoping I could distract her just long enough that she’d forget about having to leave. And it worked for a minute or two.
Until her phone buzzed.
She groaned as she collapsed into me, her forehead landing on my chest in defeat. “That’ll be Sasha. A pipe burst in the male restroom last night, Sasha’s at the club now with the plumber to see if it’s fixable.”
“Nice one. You should really go deal with that. Good luck, babe.” I captured another chaste kiss before letting her go. I watched her until she disappeared through the door to the stairwell.
Ugh. Well, my day was ruined. I absolutely hated short visits. Maybe I’d pop down to the club later on to catch another glimpse of her.
Iarrived at the cafe first and waited on the seats outside. Since it was just lunch, I was dressed in a flowy top, cute jeans, and my leather jacket. I made the effort to curl the ends of my hair, I knew Callum used to like it like that. I twirled the curls around my finger as I waited, at least it gave me something to do other than sit on my phone.
A soft tap came to my shoulder, I turned around to see Callum. He was dressed just as casually but somehow he still looked completely delicious. It just didn’t matter what he wore, he could’ve been in a brown paper bag and I would’ve been ready to rip my clothes off.
“Hey.” I stood up and pecked his lips.
I had made it a habit a long time ago to keep our kisses short and sweet in public. They were too easy to get lost in.
We’d barely been seated a minute before a waitress approached us, “Hi, I’m Kandi and I’ll be your server. Can I start you off with some drinks?”
“Water, please.” I requested sending her a small smile.
“I’ll have a diet coke.”
We picked up the menus as the waitress left with our drink order. I already knew what I was having, I’d had a pasta craving all day.
“This place is nice, I don’t know why I haven’t been here before.”
“I drive past it all the time, it’s been somewhere that I wanted to try.”
I was sure this was the place my sister was telling me about a few months ago. Said they had some kick-ass lasagna and a big selection of cocktails. As it was one o’clock in the afternoon, I’d have to try them out some other time.
“We’ve got ladies night at the club on Saturday, the dancers have a new routine they’re all buzzed about. I was thinking maybe you could drop by?”
“Really?”
“What? Yeah, why not?”
“You want your boyfriend to come along to a strip club to actually watch the dancers?”
“We’ll cycle back around to that ‘boyfriend’ comment in a minute.
“On Wednesdays and Saturdays, we have ‘ladies nights’ as we call them. They’re the nights that our dancers do burlesque routines. It’s family-friendly, I swear.”
Politely interrupting our conversation, Kandi stopped by to hand us our drinks and to take our order. “Have you had a chance to look over the menu?”
