“Mil, he is so hot, like you wouldn’t believe.”

“How hot are we talking?”

“Like cover of a magazine hot.”

“You lucky bitch.” My sister quipped and we both dissolved into a fit of laughter again. It was par for the course whenever we started drinking and gossiping. Usually about whatever the latest drama was in town. “When are you going out?”

“Saturday. For Valentine’s Day.”

“Aw, that’s sweet. You’ll still come over for heart pancakes in the morning though, right? Dylan would be so sad if you didn’t.”

“Of course, sis. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

The week dragged.I wanted Saturday to get here. I couldn’t stop thinking about Harvey. He was even in my dreams. I woke up one night, sweaty, heart pounding, pussy aching. I dreamed of Harvey. And I was horny.

Using my vibrator, I got myself off several times, my orgasms more powerful than they ever had been.

Holy shit, what was this man doing to me?

On Friday, Harvey texted me the restaurant details but also suggested he could pick me up. I asked Millie for advice, and she said I should let him pick me up and give me the full wine and dine experience. I texted him back my address, went dress shopping with Millie, and spent most of Saturday afternoon getting ready. I needed the complete works, from a shower, shave, lotion, pluck eyebrows, do my skincare, blow dry and style my hair, and lastly, do my makeup before getting dressed.

Phew. It was a lot to be a woman.

I looked around my messy room, scattered clothes tossed about and wished I’d take the time to clean up my room this morning instead of being lazy in bed and reading. I quickly gathered them and threw them in a pile in my hamper while shoving some under my bed. Not that I planned on him coming back here and seeing my room, but you never know.

At exactly seven o’clock, my doorbell rang. I smoothed down my dress, the deep burgundy complimenting my hair and skin tone. I grabbed my purse, lipstick, and phone and hurried downstairs.

My hands shook, and I gulped down air, my mouth suddenly dry. Deep breaths, I told myself, inhaling and exhaling a few times before opening the door.

Harvey stood in the doorway looking like the finest man I ever saw. He cleaned up extremely well, with a pair of tight dark blue jeans, a tight black t-shirt that showed off his muscular form, along with a navy button-down jacket. The sides of his head looked freshly shaven, the long hair on top styled, with his beard trimmed neatly. He held a bouquet of roses, a mix of white, pink, and red, and handed them to me. “Happy Valentine’s Day, Lex.”

I took them, immediately inhaling their sweet scent. “Wow, thank you! Mm, I love the smell of fresh cut roses. Come in, I’ll put these in some water and we can go.”

“Here, I also got you some chocolates.” Harvey handed me a box from under his arm before walking through my front door. It was a red heart-shaped box filled with chocolates, all different kinds from caramel to cashew.

“Thank you. I love chocolate. Feel free to have a seat. I’ll be right back.” I closed the door behind him and showed him the living room, the room right off the foyer. I hurried into the kitchen, putting the chocolates on the counter and searching my cabinets for a vase. I knew I had one somewhere.

After several cabinets, I finally found it. I filled it with water, grabbed my scissors and trimmed the stems, and sunk them into the water. I placed the vase in the center of my table and they looked gorgeous.

“Thank you for the flowers. They look and smell great.” I said as I walked into the living room.

Harvey jumped up from the couch and smoothed down his pants. He looked nervous like me. I walked towards him and took his hands in mine. “I’m nervous, too.” I said with a light giggle, easing some of the tension. “But it’ll be fun. No pressure.” I stepped back, let go of his hands and grabbed my jacket.

But before I could slide it on, Harvey’s hand wrapped around my forearm. “Wait. Lex, I…” his voice trailed off as he moved his face closer to mine. “I can’t stop thinking about our kiss from the other day.”

“Me either.” I whispered.

“I need to kiss you. Is that okay?”

I nodded and a moment later, his lips were on mine, my mind drifting far, far away.

CHAPTER FOUR

Harvey

I wantedto toss her over my shoulder and take her straight to bed but I also wanted to be a gentleman. So, before I did something I’d regret, I took her by the arm and led her outside to my truck. The kiss was enough. For now.

We enjoyed a candlelit dinner at a fancy Italian restaurant. We shared a bottle of wine, bread with parmesan dipping oil, and each ordered a meal. I got the classic chicken parmesan while she ordered chicken marsala. When the food came, we shared our meals with each other, and when it was time for dessert, we ordered a piece of flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and two spoons.
