Caleb doesn’t look surprised, confirming his twin must have spoken to him about it.

“Joshua! Joshua!” She attempts to turn in Caleb’s arms, but he’s holding her too tightly. Joshua and the men step back as Caleb moves her outside to the lobby, freeing up the doorway.

Joshua rushes inside, hauling me against his chest, as Sorella screams and shouts. “Are you okay?” he asks.

“I’m fine, though she did pull a gun on me.”

“Did she now?” His cold icy stare throws me back in time to months ago when I was on the receiving end of such looks. Keeping his arms snugly around me, he turns us to face his ex-fuck-buddy at the door. “I made myself very clear in December when I told you our arrangement was over.”

“You don’t mean it!” Tears stream down her face. “I love you, and I know you love me!”

“I don’t. I have never loved you. I love Gia. She’s going to be my wife.”

“Why her and not me!? What does she have that I don’t?” she shrieks, bucking against the soldiers who are now holding her. Caleb looks bored, slouched against the doorway with his ankles crossed, staring at the ceiling. “Look at her, and look at me!” Somehow, she manages to rip her coat open, displaying the fitted lace corset, matching panties, and stockings she is wearing. “How can you want that hot mess and not this?”

Joshua looks ready to rip her to shreds. “Insult the woman I love again, and I’ll put a bullet in your head. Gia is worth a million of you. She’s my equal in every way. You were just a hole to fuck when I had an itch that needed scratching.”

Gawd, he’s so cold. I should be enjoying this, and there is a part of me that is, but there is something so tragically pathetic about Sorella that makes another part of me pity her.

She’s crying now, big wracking sobs that come straight from her heart. I think she might genuinely be in love with him.

“Take her away,” he commands his men. “I will be calling your sister to tell her she’s fired and calling your father to explain what you’ve done here today. I’ll be demanding he sends both of you overseas.”

“No, please, Joshua. No. Don’t do that. I don’t want to leave the US. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”

“You’re lucky he’s not calling for your death,” Caleb says, pushing off the wall. “My brother is doing you a kindness. You should thank him.”

“Joshua, please. She has poisoned you, tricked you into thinking you love her. She’s not good enough for you. Please, baby, she can’t give you the things I can. Remember all the good times we had, baby. Please remember.”

“You pulled a gun on my future wife. There’s no coming back from that. I don’t trust you around Gia, and I will do whatever is necessary to ensure she’s protected. You are nothing to me, and she is everything.”

Ouch. That has got to hurt.

Sorella’s tears dry up, and she glares at me. “You might think you’ve won, bitch, but I’ll have the last laugh. Wait and see!” she shrieks as she’s dragged kicking and screaming into the elevator.

“My ears hurt,” Caleb says, slapping his brother on the shoulder as the elevator doors close and the screeching stops. “Thank fuck. I was two seconds from blowing her head off just to shut her up.”

“Are you okay?” Joshua asks me again, ignoring his brother.

“I’m fine. I kinda feel sorry for her. I think she loves you and she’s really lost it.”

“I don’t care about her.” He pulls us farther into the hallway as Caleb closes the front door. “All I care about is you.”

“I’m okay, but I’m all riled up now.” I drive my hand down the front of his pants. “I want to bounce on your cock.”

“And that’s my cue to leave.” Caleb’s eyes light up in mischief. “Unless you want a two-for-one special?” He smirks, totally winding his brother up. “Want to fuck twins?”

“Out!” we holler in unison, pointing at the front door.

“You two are no fun.” He blows me a kiss before spinning around, chuckling as he exits through the front door.

Chapter Thirty-Six

Gia

“Have you got your vest on?” Joshua asks me for the umpteenth time as we get out of his Land Rover at the large warehouse in Queens where everyone is meeting.

“Yes.” I bite my tongue so I don’t sass him. I know he’s only worried. I loop my arm through his. “Please don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine. You’re the one who is directly in the line of fire, so if anyone should be worrying, it’sme.”
