“Sup, fuckers?” Baz saunters into the room like he doesn’t have a care in the world.

“Please say you have news for us,” Chad says.

“Well, if you consider Manford and Salinger being found hung in their cells an hour ago good news, then yep.” He waggles his brows before his expression changes. “Apologies, Ash. James was your uncle. I’m sorry for being flippant.”

“I don’t really have feelings about it either way. We weren’t close.” My mom will flip. “How did this happen? Your dad had guys on the doors.” We know who is responsible. Just not how. Carter wasn’t at the funeral. He knew better than to show his face. But most everyone else was, meaning it was the perfect time to make a move when everyone was preoccupied and unlikely to interfere.

“They have all conveniently disappeared.” Baz’s eyes darken.

“Carter is onto us,” Ares says, verbalizing what we’re all thinking.

“Unfortunately, yes.” Baz props his butt on the edge of the coffee table. “If he bought into Dad’s act before, he knows now it was all for show.”

“He can’t surely expect Luminary society to believe both men committed suicide while in custody?” Bree says.

“One he might be able to pass off as legit, but two is not in any way believable,” I say.

“I honestly think the prick doesn’t care anymore,” Jase says. “He’s getting ready to make his power move.”

“Fuck.” Ares dumps me on the couch and stands, pacing the floor and tugging on his hair. “We need to find my sister now.”

“I have more good news,” Baz flashes him a grin. “We cracked the password on the flash drive.” His eyes bounce over to Chad. “Your dad amassed a considerable amount of intel. It’s no wonder he was taken out. They were never going to let him go to trial with the knowledge he had unveiled.”

“Does the drive exonerate him?” Chad rises to his feet.

“It’s too early to tell, but I’m hopeful.” Baz walks over to Ares, clamping a hand down on his shoulders. “We know where she is, man. We have her location, and we’re going to get her.”

Ashley

“You couldn’t have led with that, asshole?” Jase grumbles, shooting daggers at his brother.

“You mean it?” Ares’s choked tone brings tears to my eyes. “You really know where Lili is?”

Baz nods and lowers his arms to his sides. “I came straight here the second we found the intel.”

“Where is she?”

“Colombia. Bogota.”

“Does that mean?” Bree asks letting her sentence trail off on purpose.

Baz bobs his head. “Carter’s hands are all over sex trafficking rings in South America. You stumbled upon him in the act, PC1.”

“Fuck.” I crawl over to Bree on the couch and hug her. “You were in so much danger. He could have killed you.”

“Except he already had plans for you,” Jase grits out, standing and stretching his arms over his head.

“We need to go.” Ares snaps out of the shocked daze he’s been in, striding toward the doorway. “I need to get Lili.”

“Woah.” Baz grabs a fistful of his shirt and hauls him back. “Hold your horses. We have a plan.”

“We better be part of it,” Ares growls, ready to throw down with his new friend.

“Of course, you are.” Baz looks around at all of us. “We head out first thing in the morning.”

“No.” Ares shoves Baz. “We go now!”
