up, both guys were looking at me as if I was insane. I probably looked that way, since I’d been
laughing as I loaded the small countertop dishwasher.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop,” I apologized. Immediately after, I considered kicking my
own ass because until I’d copped to it, they hadn’t known what I’d found amusing. For all they knew,
it could have been a random thought.
“Not like we’re huddled in the corner and you’re lurking trying to overhear.” Guy one lifted his
glass. “Listen away. If we wanted privacy, we could have moved to a table. Say, maybe you can help
me out as long as you’re here.”
“Sure, what’s up?” I asked, surprised by the way he’d drawn me into the middle of their
conversation. I flipped a rag over my shoulder and rested my foot against the liquor well. I was going
for cool and relaxed, but my actions felt stiff. Nope. Not second-guessing myself, not when this guy
had me curious about a side of William I’d ignored the countless times I heard customers singing his
praises. Of course, he was polite to them; even if he wasn’t technically an employee, he had to
schmooze the customers if he wanted to keep the sweet gig he had here.
“I’m trying to get Chase here to loosen up a bit,” he told me, hitching a thumb toward his buddy.
“Jesus, Jayden. Why don’t you just stand on top of the bar and tell the entire room what a pathetic
loser virgin your roommate is,” Chase hissed through gritted teeth. Jayden gave me asee what I mean
quirked eyebrow. I gave a subtle nod and smile, being careful so Chase’s discomfort didn’t grow.
“I didn’t say that, you did,” Jayden pointed out before turning back to me. “But it does make things
easier to explain. As he said, he’s…inexperienced. He’s a curious little boy but he’s too nervous to
do anything about it.”
“Jayden!” Even in the dim lights over the bar, I could see Chase’s cheeks burning bright.
“It’s okay,” I reassured him, placing a hand on his forearm. “You’re not the first newbie I’ve seen
around here, and you won’t be the last. It’s okay to be nervous.”
And I would know because I was even worse than Chase. At least he had the stones to walk
through the door and try to find what he needed. I was here multiple times a week and couldn’t even
say the words out loud. Of course, neither had he. Maybe I needed a pushy buddy like Jayden to kick
me out of my comfort zone.
“So, is that… I mean…” Ugh, for someone who’d seen more kinks than I could count, I sucked at
talking about what got people off. Chase nodded, so slightly it would have been easy to miss the
