the lot. I wasn’t in the mood to see Jack today. As much as I loved the guy, I knew eventually he was

going to catch on to what Corey and I were doing right under his nose. Even though he couldn’t really

say anything about it since I wasn’t technically an employee, I didn’t want to lie to him. Corey and I

hadn’t discussed whether it was okay for people to know, other than Sam, who’d done nothing but

smile and wave every time he caught us stealing a few moments together.

Since Jack and his boy had gotten together, he seemed on a mission to help all of his friends find

love. I carefully shied away from his attempts to set me up with various subs in the club over the past

few weeks. There was only one boy I had eyes for and turning down everyone else would have raised

suspicions. Even though I’d been averse to relationships ever since I came home, it was unusual for

me to not even play. I couldn’t even remember the last time I’d stepped foot into the back part of the

club.

As I approached the employee entrance, I offered up a silent prayer that he had simply left his car

here while he and Slade spent some time together.

No such luck.

It almost felt like Jack was waiting for me, leaning against the wall just on the other side of the

door. Sunlight reflected off his polished dress shoes, warning me of his presence before I barreled

into him.

“You know, I wish my actual employees were half as dedicated to spending time here as you seem

to be lately,” Jack observed. I eased my way past him, pretending I had no clue what he was talking

about.

Of course, my hanging around had been noticed. We didn’t even have any workshops on the

schedule for me to blame my presence on. Jack was a smart man. If he had glanced at the schedule, it

wouldn’t take him more than a few seconds to figure out that I only came in before the club opened on

the days Corey was working. I tried covering my tracks by coming in early enough that I could help

with the renovations on the second playroom but there was definitely a method to my madness.

“What can I say? I’m anxious to get the new playroom open. If it takes off the way the Littles room

has, you’re going to have to hire more staff.”

“That wouldn’t be a hardship. Although, if we keep growing the way we have been, I think there

are going to have to be some changes.” Jack hooked his foot around the barstool next to him as he sat,

pulling it out and nodding towards it. That was all the invitation I was going to get.
