“That’s funny. I don’t see a name anywhere on it.”
There are four against one, but still I’ll take my chances. Though, most likely, I’ll be taking an ass whipping tonight. His eyebrows lift in surprise over sable-colored eyes. He expected me to scramble out of the booth, but I don’t intimidate easily. I’m not the fucking one. Number one and number two move in closer. I’m guessing they’re brothers, since they have the same pale blue eyes and auburn hair color.
“Danny, don’t start no shit tonight.”
“Mind your business, Mandy, and get back to work. I gave thisboya warning. It’s not my problem if he didn’t listen.” He doesn’t take his eyes off me while talking to Mandy.
“I’m going to call your daddy.”
“I’m shaking in my boots.” He snickers.
Mandy runs off.
“Are you sure you want to go down this route, boy?”
“Of course, the scenery is to die for.”
I deliver a blow to Ringleader’s gut before popping him in the eye when he doubles over. I push him back then grab my drink and the ketchup bottle from the table. When number one charges me, I jump from the booth, throwing the cup, hitting him square in the forehead. He grasps his head, falling to his knees. I break the glass ketchup bottle over number two’s head. Customers start to scream and flee the diner, while others take out their cell phones to record. My eyes connect with number three’s hazel ones as he takes a swing at me. I kick him in the dick, because yeah, I fight dirty. When number three hunches over to clutch his manhood, I grab him by his curly blond hair and slam his face into the table. He falls to the floor with a bloody nose. Number one recovers and wraps his arms around my midsection, tackling me into the wall. I’m elbowing him in the back when ketchup head grabs my arm and pins it to the wall, preventing me from continuing the assault on his friend. This gives Pepsi enough time to grab my other arm and pin it against the wall too. Ringleader stands in front of me now with number three next to him. I struggle against the other boys’ hold.
“Keep him still,” shouts Ringleader. Now, you get your ass handed to you.”
He delivers blow after blow to my torso. Damn, this fucker hits hard.
“It’s my turn,” number three says.
“I guess this means we won’t be painting each other’s toenails and having sleepovers anytime soon,” I mock.
“I’m not done yet.”
“Yes, you are.” It’s Sheriff Andy.
“Dad, he started—” Ringleader begins.
Dad?
“Let him go now!” the sheriff shouts.
Oh fuck, I get into a fight with this bastard after his father warned me less than an hour ago to stay out of trouble.
The assholes drop my arms. Fuck me, my body hurts.
“I knew you were trouble when I first saw you.” The sheriff shakes his head.
“Now, Sheriff, I saw the whole thing. Your son came in here looking for trouble and he found it,” the curvy redhead says in my defense.
It seems as if he doesn’t believe her.
“I saw what happened too, and Danny started the fight,” Mandy chimes in.
“You and your friends go home, Danny,” the sheriff says.
Danny and his bozos leave.
“I’ll be stopping by to speak with your uncle in a few.”
Fucking terrific.
“Go home,” the sheriff says.
