Someone takes the seat beside me. When I turn to face the new arrival, I’m surprised to find Maverick.
“What are you doing?” I ask.
“I’m sitting with you.”
“I see that, but why? You know people will talk.”
“Let them.”
Jamal, Kate, and Lucy are speechless. They can’t believe what’s happening, and neither can I.
“Will you be in town for Thanksgiving break?”
“No, I’m driving to Maryland tomorrow to spend the week with my Grandmother.”
“Which part?”
“Frederick. Heard of it?”
“Yeah,” says Maverick.
“Where will you be?”
“Here.”
He picks my phone up from the table then hands it to me.
“Type in your passcode.”
When I unlock my cell phone, he pulls it from my grasp. I look around the cafeteria.
“I saved my number in your cell phone, text me, so I can have yours too.”
“Okay.”
He leans over to whisper in my ear, “Are you still wearing your panties?”
My pussy clenches at the question.
I nod my head.
“Good girl.”
With that, he leaves the table.
“What the fuck just happened? Am I in the twilight zone?” asks Jamal.
“So, are you going to continue to deny that there’s something happening between Maverick and you?” asks Lucy.
“We’re not stupid, you know,” adds Kate. “We have eyes. Everyone notices the way he watches you. When he enters the room, his eyes search until they land on you. It’s like he’s in love.”
“I don’t know what’s happening between us, okay? I do know that it scares the hell out of me and it’s confusing. I know I should run away screaming, but I can’t.”
“You’re in way over your head,” says Jamal.
“Thanks for the vote of confidence,” I reply sarcastically.
“I don’t want you to get hurt,” he adds.
