“Stand down, Bane!”Wanda bit.

“I have had enough of this,” Bane growled.“She ismine!Myanam cara, you?—”

“Oh, look, it’s the Loch Ness Monster,” Norman whistled, pointing to the ocean in the distance.

I turned if only out of instinct.

“Let’s all just take a minute and calm down,” Delaney said.“No one’s taking anyone’s favorite toy.”

“I saw the way he looked at her,” Bane growled. He thinks he can?—”

“Oh, please,” Desmond said.“Violet is not my type.”

His words both angered me and filled me with relief. At least I knew he did not desire me, but...

Why didn’t he?

What was wrong with me that I was not a Prince’s type?

The biting insecurity it seemed had been resurrected without my control and I gasped at his words.

“Are you insulting my mate? The future Queen of Lir?”Bane roared.

Desmond lunged forth, his dark hair bristling from the motion. The only difference between them was the obvious glow of Bane’s infernal tattoos.

Though they were in the true form, they were not in full shift.Their clothes were tight, but not ripped, save for the spot for their wings.I knew if things escalated, it could get ugly, but I wasn’t sure either Bane or Desmond could hear me at the moment.

“How about we take this tour to the cellars,” Delaney said.“Where there’s wine.”

“Now is not the time for drinking, Delaney!”Wanda nipped.

“Uh, guys—” Norm’s voice infiltrated the tension, but all I could focus on was Bane and Desmond who were snarling at each other.

Overme.

“Only an incubus of your standing would take that as an insult,” Desmond bit as Bane’s body grew hotter.

“What the hell is that supposed to mean, I?—”

“Guys!”Norman’s tentacles slipped between us, pushing us all apart. His suckers tickled my skin and one of his tentacles pointed to the sky.

“Incoming!”

We all looked up to see the dark clouds, the ominous storm on the edge of the castle.

“Can we take this dick measuring contest elsewhere before we get zapped by Pegasus’s wrath?”

“Yes,” I jumped in rather quickly, grabbing Bane by the waist and pulling him toward the exit.“We should get inside where it issafe.”

Bane growled at my suggestion as Wanda pushed Desmond backward, and he growled in frustration.

“I—”

“You want to stay out here and get fried, Dezzy, be my guest,” Delaney nipped.

“That’s not my name,” he hissed.

I watched as Wanda bared her teeth—no, her fangs—at Desmond.
