I rip the package open and bite the head off the shark gummy.
“Nothing,” I say. “I was just thinking how sometimes life is stranger than fiction.”
Aaron’s fingers slide through my hair as we lay there, naked, covered in one another’s cum, watching my favorite movie.
“You have plans later?” he murmurs, not bothering to ask as he grabs a gummy shark from the bag.
“Um… no. Why?” I laugh, because we both know he knows I don’t. I am still technically off until tomorrow.
“Because I thought maybe we could watch a movie later.” His voice is tinged with humor.
“Oh really? What movie is that?” I don’t fight the smile on my face as Julia Roberts grins, running down her apartment stairs.
“Have you ever heard ofRed, White, & Royal Blue?” he asks, and I laugh.
“Um… I have the book. I’ve read it like a hundred times.”
Aaron laughs. “Of course you have.” His tone isn’t judgmental. It’s bright, beautiful.
Full of love.
I cuddle into him like a burrowing rabbit and he leans his head on top of mine.
“Is it your favorite?” he asks as the credits roll.
“No,” I say, turning in his arms, to look up at him.
“What’s your favorite then?” he asks, his warm eyes gazing down at me with so much love it feels like my heart could burst.
“My favorite love story?” I whisper, leaning up to ghost my lips against his.
“Is the one we’re writing together.”
I kiss him, savoring the flavor of sugary gummy shark on his tongue.
Happy Ever After never tasted so fucking good.

Six Months Later…
Jacob
“Are you nervous?” Noah asks for the hundredth time. I fight the urge to roll my eyes, because I knowhe’snervous. About a lot of things, not just this launch party.
“For the hundredth time, yes,” I say as nicely as I can. “And your incessant badgering is not making me any less nervous.”
“Sorry,” he gripes, adjusting my banner. Again for the hundredth time.
I grab him by the arms, forcing him to look at me. “Seriously, Noah, relax. It’ll be fine.”
He sighs as he chews his lip. “It’s just a big deal, man. I mean you wrote a whole fucking book.”
I let go of him and fix my banner which boasts my pen name, Riley Jacobs.
“Scout wrote a book too, and you weren't a total basket case for that.”
Noah grunts. “I didn’t share a womb with Scout.”
