“Telling you about Savannah cheating would take you away from me. It would ruin the good thing we had.”

“It did that anyway.”

“Yeah, I know. Trust me, I’ve thought about it too much. I don’t know where you’re at on the whole thing, I just want you to know that I am sorry and I realize my mistake and if I could go back, I would do it differently.” I blow out a sharp breath, glad to finally have gotten that off my chest.

“Thank you for that. But also, I owe you an apology, too.”

“For what?”

“Everything. I didn’t make things easy for us. Not the first time, or the second time. I put you in impossible positions. Always made you second best, and that was extremely unfair. I can’t blame you for feeling the way you did, Cam, because I made you feel that way.”

I scratch the back of my neck. “So, we’re both sorry?” I say simply.

“Yeah, we are.”

“And we can… move on?”

Austen grins. “I’d like to.”

“As friends or…”

Austen’s grin widens. “I love when you’re all insecure.” My cheeks heat and he leans in to kiss me. His bright blue eyes hold my gaze as he licks his lips. “Cameron, I’d love nothing more than for us to be together. For you to be my boyfriend, and see where things go. I want us to have a real chance. Start with a clean slate, with nothing in the way.”

“I’d like that,” I breathe out, inching closer to Austen.

“Good,” he answers before leaning in the rest of the way and kissing me.

His body covers mine, and he thrusts against me, already hard and ready to go again. But this is how it is with us, how it was when we finally allowed ourselves to give in. What’s going to happen now that we have nothing standing in our way?

Chapter Fifty-One

Austen

I settle my hand on Cameron’s neck, his pulse racing beneath my palm as I kiss him. His mouth moves slowly against mine as his hand finds its resting place on the back of my neck. He pulls me closer as he shifts his position, sinking into the couch cushions. I dive with him, a laugh escaping my throat as we collapse onto the cushions. He kisses me through my laughter, but it’s contagious. He breaks away, the laughter spreading and I bury my face in his chest.

“Sorry, I forgot to mention this couch has seen better days,” I say. I pick up my head, shooting my gaze up at him, clearing my throat. “My brand new mattress has a lot more support.”

Cameron laughs huskily, brushing some hair away from my face. “I bet it does.”

I get off him, regrettably, and extend a hand. Neither of us say a word as he takes my hand, linking our fingers together once again.

“If you need to go…” I say, noticing it’s nearing eleven already.

“Do you want me to go?” he asks sincerely.

I shake my head. “I never want to let you out of my fucking sight.”

The smile that falls over his lips is wicked. His gaze darkens and suddenly my body feels hot.

Fuck, how does he do that? That look should be illegal.

My cock throbs in agreement.

“Then I’m not going anywhere,” he says as he squeezes my hand. I pull him to me, finding his mouth.

“Good,” I say. “Because when I’m done with you, you won’t be able towalkanyway.”

Before he can respond, I kiss him and swallow his words.
