My voice broke as we finally came to a clearing, and I could see the tips of roofs.

Cabins.

Surrounded by woods, there was no telling how far away we were from the motel.

I hoped by the sheer grace of God that Valory and Endor were okay...

That somehow, someway, they’d come traipsing through the clearing any minute, blow this alpha asshole into next week, and rescue me.

This man had no clue who they were, no clue about how I’d ended up here, and I knew I shouldn’t believe a word he said...after all, who takes the word of a kidnapper?

But something about his words...

You know your soul is up for claiming...

Deep down in the pits of my stomach, I felt the levity.

Was that why Valory and Endor were guiding me?

Was that why they were so caring, and gentle?

Because they wanted my soul?

Just so they could flip the switch at the last second?

No, I had to believe they wouldn’t make me choose.

They wanted me to live...

Didn’t they?

Despite the shocking suggestion, I dared to hold on to the things Ididknow about my guardians instead of the uncertain, unanswered questions now formulating in my brain.

I hoped sincerely by this time tomorrow, I’d be in Jasper Springs...

Jasper Springs...

The thought of the sign from my previous vision caused a flash of heat to envelope my body, sweat prickling my forehead.Instantly panic formed.

No, no, no...

Not a vision, not now...

“Please, put me down, I can’t, I—”

But my pleading was no use, as the darkness swallowed me.

Laughter filled the air as I screamed, “Put me down!”

I could feel a bony shoulder pressing against my hip joint and I squirmed.

A soft palm brushed over my ass, caressing it smoothly.

“Over my dead body,” a voice spoke.A voice I recognized...

It was smooth, deep, and made my insides twist deliciously.

“What are you going to do, kidnap me?”I taunted as I kicked and wriggled in his grasp.
